Happiness and Success: Where Is Their Place in Life
What is success in life? Does it have a connection with happiness? To answer this question we need to understand in this essay about happiness and success what are definitions and nature of these terms. First of all, it is very difficult to say for sure because the definition of success in life differs from person to person. From an early age, we were taught to vaguely strive for success, and we didn't really understand what success in life was. However, success in life has different meanings depending on the influence of the education and environment a person has received. Hence, different people have different ways and efforts to pursue happiness and success in life. Success in life is something that is in the mind of the individual. We all may sympathy the opinions of others about what success in life means to us, but never in the same way or interpretation. Defining success in an individual's life is like an art form that reflects his or her values and experiences. There are many definitions of success in life, depending on the individual's perspective. Not everyone understands the definition of success in their own life. However, we need to understand and think about what success in life means to us, and we need to be clear about it.
The dictionary definition of success is the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect, and fame; the correct or desired result of an attempt; someone or something that is successful: a person or thing that succeeds. However, the meaning of the word success combines more meanings than these definitions. Given the information, a person would then have to compromise their own interpretation of what all that means to them. Depending on the values instilled in people, it provides various definitions. Here are a few quotes of what success means coming from people that would be considered highly prosperous and successful in giving a few examples. For example, Booker T. Washington described success as, “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles he has overcome”. Her again, no two people have the same exact obstacles throughout life, so their measurement of success could seem faulty to the next person. Colin Powell says that “Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence” George S. Patton said: “I don't measure a man's success by how high he climbs but how high he bounces when he hits bottom”. I agree with this definition. However, this definition of success doesn't make sense to many people because it assumes hitting the bottom.
Though some of these quoted definitions held some similarities, none of them are the same. Universal principles remain the same when it comes down to the many descriptions of the real meaning of success. It basically boils down to success being based on happiness and fulfillment through hard work and perseverance while staying true to your values, ethical code, and striving to reach your full potential. Depending on a person’s socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, their values may instill a difference in interpretation. In recent years, it seems that the definition of success is moving toward more of the idea of achieving wealth and fame. Some even at any cost. Does all the wealth and fame come at a price? Are these people truly successful? Amidst gaining success and fame, did they have to lose some of themselves to reach that point? History has shown us that sometimes the people in the positions of being wealthy and powerful come at a price. For example, when a celebrity has a scandal in my country, Japan, it is common for them to lose all their work and be condemned by many people. Even recently, there have been people who have lost their contracts and are in a lot of debt because of scandals reported by celebrities.
Throughout my life, my vision and goal of success have gradually changed through my personal growth and experiences. I’ve accumulated different aspects from life’s wonderful trials and tribulations while I’m still learning. Time changes many things, and a person’s aim for success can be one of them. Success can come in different levels and forms. Success can come in the form of failure. Learning from failure and overcoming failure is a form of success. We all know the old say, “If at first, you don’t succeed, try, try again.” Failure is the process of boldly challenge, learn, and improve in order to walk the path to success in own life.
What exactly is the definition of success in life? The true definition of success is shaped by a person's life and experiences. Though I haven’t fully grasped my true meaning of success, I have collected a few aspects through this journey of life that I know will stand strong to the end. Success is comfortable and content in the life you are living. A person can only reach achieve success if they first figure out what truly makes them happy. Once a person figures out what makes them happy, they can then strive to take the steps necessary to provide continued happiness while striving to make the world around them better as well. When a person is satisfied with success, it is important to know how truly satisfied the people around a person with their lives.
In conclusion, people are never finished with their success in life. People seek to find a happiness trough success of other achievements. People always have to keep running to keep succeeding in different forms and levels in a person's life. They strive to better themselves and others. Making themselves as well-rounded as possible. The road to success never ends. It is a lifelong roller coaster that everyone must strap in, draw interpretations and enjoy the ride. The goal should never be to stop working to reach one’s full potential and overcoming obstacles that get in the way of the goals set to reach success. Success is achieved by promoting continual growth toward the goals that will provide you to live your best life.
