Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: The Magic of the Book

When I was in second grade, I remember the first time I actually read a book for fun. The instant magic I felt in that moment transformed me into a reader. I couldn’t stop myself from reading; I would read the same books over and over again from my small school library. I remember spending my summers afternoons sitting in a Conner in my room with various colorful and astounding stacks of books all around me. As time went on my love of reading seem to dull out. I would read once and a while but not to the extent as I used to when I was younger but that all changed one fateful day in fifth grade.

Write my paper

One day my fifth-grade teacher assigned us a book report to do during winter break. As with any 10-year-old, I was naturally kind of mad because I really did not want to do homework during my break time. I had no idea what book to do In the first place. I asked my friends what will they do. They told me just to watch the movie version of a book and just write about the movie version. At first, I was on board with my friend’s plan, but I decided to just read a book intend and not get into trouble because some movies are different than books. So one Saturday afternoon I went to the public library. I went straight to the nonfiction side and started skimming over the sea of many different books. As I scanned the many different books a certain title caught my eye. The first Harry Potter book: Harry Potter and the soccer stone I remember seeing the movie a bunch of times on TV and liking it so I thought I would probably like the book version too. So I checked the book out and went home to start reading it. After reading the first few pages they became chapters and soon enough before I realized it I finished the whole book in three days. When I read Harry Potter for the first time I truly felt magic in that moment. I was so engrossed in the book that time frozen for me. If I must admit I was actually proud of myself. I remember the feeling I felt all those summer afternoons spent reading books to the little Conner in my room. This book series reignited the passion I had for reading long ago. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone tells the story of a young orphan boy named Harry who learns he’s a wizard and enrolls in a magic school while defending the school from dark forces. In all of Harry’s life, he felt alone and shunned in this normal world but soon after enrolling in Hogwarts and making friends with Hermione Granger and Ron Wesley he soon learns how to accept himself for who he is. On a surface level, the Harry Potter series is just Harry and his friends going on various adventures filled with magic. On a deeper level, the series is filled with themes and messages of acceptance, friendship, family and loving yourself, and many more.J.K Rowling’s story has not just impacted me but so many people around the world regardless of different cultures, ages and genders. While reading harry potter I felt like I was transported into Hogwarts right alongside harry Hermione and Ron on adventures. The book is filled to the brim with details of imagery and sensory. J.K Rowing brilliantly uses these tactics to transport the reader into the story. As you can expect as a 10-year old I really didn’t have much life experience however Harry and his friends helped me in finding my own identity as a person. My favorite character in the whole series would be Hermione Granger. She is an inspiration to me. I aspired to be like Hermione. I know I can not use magic like her but I started to study more like her. Hermione taught me that you could be anything regardless of your title or circumstance. Her character showed me that I do not need to stay in my own box labeled. I could break out of that mindset and be anything I wanted to be. Harry Potter helped broaden my own worldview. As I witness many different magical battles Harry and his friends helped me and shaped me into the person I am today. Writing and Reading can change people’s lives for the better. Through a simple book report I was able to reinforce my love for reading. A month before summer break i remember i finished all 7 books in the series. It changed my outlook on life thought harry and his friends, I learned that I can love myself and its never to late to change yourself can better myself
