How Chewing Gum was Invented

My research paper is going to be on Gum (chewing). The man who invented Gum was Walter Diemer . He was only 23 when he invented gum. They were sold for a penny a piece. The only reason why gum was invented was because he was trying different recipes. He didn't mean to invented gum. While trying different things he made gum in 1928.

He got a gum company and money was going up the roof. He was making 1.2 billion each year. The first color for the gum was pink. Children were eating the gum and the amount of gum was 150,000 pounds that the kids were eating a day. That was just for the pink gum nothing else. He had built an ENTIRE career over gum.

That's the only thing he liked to do was making gum until he passed away. In 1870 the effort in blowing gum bubbles was back in 1906. There was a problem with the flavor in 1880. They had figured out the problem till late 1888. After they fixed it they looked back at Walter Diemer. He became senior vice president of Fleer because of the things he did to become successful. After he became vice president, Fleer kinda took over and named the first gum “Dubble Bubble”.

Then after that they just became making more and more of the chewing gum. They first released it in Philadelphia and from there it was a big hit. So it went all around the world for more people to taste the gum that they made. He was so proud of the business that he came up with. They were all having fun with the gum and blowing bubbles. The kids were dancing around as they were chewing gum that they had in their mouth. Once they found out about their gum business more and more people started to make new flavors and sell them all around the world. They became so much of the gum business that they had to stop making so many companies.

After they heard about all the companies that were not making gum anymore Walter and Fleer started to make new and more and more flavors of gum. They really became successful until Walter passed away in 1998 on January 8. He was only 98 when he passed away. They found out and their company shut down for about 3 to 4 years and they stopped making gum for a while. Some other people took over and made it into a shoe factory. Many and many other people started to continue with their gum business and they are still making more and more flavors of gum.

They are all being successful in their making process things and all following into Walter Diemer footsteps in having a passion to make more and more gum. If it wasn't for him we wouldn't have the gum we have today.
