How I Became A Victim Of Robbery
My story started about a week ago. I was heading to bed early, because I was tired from a long day with plans to wake up a few hours before class to review for a test. As I closed my books for the evening and headed to bed around midnight, little did I know something was going on outside. A little later that night someone entered my garage, which just so happened to be unlocked. They first went through my dad’s van outside and I think they stole his coat. They also went through my mom’s car looking for something to steal, only to find a few motivational tapes. Surprising enough they passed those including one on. When they got into my car however, they decided to take most of what I had. They stole my stereo, and they took part of my dash with it. They also took most of my CD collection. They even took my flashlight.
My mom woke me the next morning. She had decided to bring me breakfast in bed. I ate my eggs and bacon knowing nothing of what had happened. I finished eating and took a nap deciding that I would worry about studying for my test later. I woke about a half hour later to my little brother stumbling down the stairs. He came into my room and said, "Cliff, someone broke into your car and stole your stereo. " At first I thought he was kidding. But then I looked closer and i could tell in his face that this was no joke. And he had to be telling the truth. I dashed out of bed and grabbed my robe on the way upstairs. I flew through the front door, struggling to put my robe on as I ran to the garage. For some strange reason I don’t remember running to the garage, all I remember was that I entered the garage and looked into the open window of my car and my heart dropped. Everything was gone along with half of my dash destroyed in the process. Words couldn't explain how angry I was. I felt like hitting something. My anger was immediately taken out on my poor car. I hit my car as hard as I could, like it had done something wrong. If you look close enough you can still see the dent in my hood where I hit it so hard. I then decided to sit inside my car and truly look at all the damage that had been done. Which did not help. Then realizing that all my CD’s were also missing, I then blanked out and ripped my visor from the roof of my car.
My mom came in and seen what i was doing to the visor and helped calm me down. My mom said later, "You were pretty mad Cliff, I have never seen you that mad before. " After I took sometime to calm down I started to compile a list of what was missing for my dad to take down to the Police Station. I spent some time repairing my car. It has been kind of depressing realizing exactly what is gone. I have felt kind of violated throughout the whole process. Wondering if I deserve this, and why?
I have also been speaking with my insurance company with the hopes that I will be reimbursed for what I lost. I also heard from one of my neighbors a few days after the incident. As it turns out, another car was broken into the same night as mine, so I am quite sure that no one I know broke into my car. My insurance company reimbursed me for what I lost. However I have no clues as to who broke into my car and have received no word from the Police station.
