How Industrial Revolution Influenced On Great Britain

The industrial revolution was a long, advancing period that lasted around a hundred years from 1700 to 1800. However, the industrialized cities that surrounded didn’t begin as a progressive city. The area started as a plot of land with a few buildings and shelters. The population increased gradually over time to the point where reforms had to be established. During the time, a few factories were built eventually leading to a building on almost every corner. Years passed and inventions were discovered helping the period prosper. Jobs in agriculture decreased as more people fled for work in the factories. Even though, many citizens were happy for the influx of opportunities that cast ahead, a mere percentage stayed loyal to the farm. The factories were very beneficial but obstacles that led ahead caused rising number of injuries and deaths which made many cemeteries and hospitals.

Great Britain was one of the first countries to industrialize the cities quickly for the reasons that follow. First, Great Britain was full of natural resources such as coal and iron providing power in factories. Beginning in the mid 1700s, Great Britain had growth spurt in population giving a surplus of workers for the jobs needed along with customers for the products made. The country had formed a trading alliance with other countries allowing for raw materials and a market. An important reason, Great Britain’s economy worked was because of its supportive government. The government gave patents to inventors, offered financial perks to industrialists and maintained a hands-off policy that pleased businessman. These factors caused Great Britain to overpower its neighboring countries during this time period.

There were many inventions created in this time that helped the countries grow. An important inventor that has been credited was Richard Arkwright who made water the power fuel. He created the water frame which was a water-powered spinning frame that assisted to the growth of products produced. More importantly, Arkwright was the first to make a modern factory which spurred industry. Another important invention was the steam engine invented by Thomas Newcomen. His invention caused steam to be the main power source which was an efficient process with Britain’s abundance with coal. The invention of the telegraph improved communication overseas drastically. Samuel Morse is highly recognized for his help with the Morse Code too. Eli Whitney came up with the idea of interchangeable parts which meant products were built identically in a way that they can fit into any assembly line. An assembly line also was a vital piece to industries discovered by Gerald Ford.

Although, the industrial time was very favorable, there was a variety of problems that came with it. The main dilemma was safety issues inside factories. Despite the values of the factories, the work became dreadful in many countries especially America. The factories were crammed and dirty with dangerous conditions. This led to many injuries. Unfortunately, the hours and wages were unprofitably too causing workers to lose interest. However, the factory never stopped and workers went in all weather. These problems were what caused foreign immigrants to despise working and start strikes.

Besides the issues that occurred over the years, the industrial revolution had many benefits helping the growth in countries. Great Britain brought many of this inventions to the time becoming one of the first modernized country. The time affected many of the future events that were to occur. The technology helped warfare majorly. The industrial revolution broke the balance of power in many nations however it would be the cornerstone to modernization.
