KAP Study To Manage Diabetes Properly
So as to quantify and measure a phenomenon, a quantitative method through the use of questionnaire would be beneficial in collecting the data about such phenomenon. Therefore a quantitative method within a descriptive survey design would be pursued within which a pretested refined questionnaire would be used to collect the data then to describe the findings, being the primary method of collecting quantitative data, would be the method used in this study.
Knowledge, attitude and practices about healthy lifestyle aspects have been thoroughly explored in wide range of researches, including eating pattern, smoking, PA, and stress. This study focuses on “lifestyle choices”, which suggests that they are prone to modification to achieve a health benefit and in our case to manage diabetes properly. In order to achieve this designing and then implementing a health promotion program is crucial in the start to learn about these parameters as a prerequisite. Assessment is a key component in learning which is a prerequisite in conducting any educational diagnosis about a certain health problem. Such assessment can be carried out by doing a KAP study on a certain group within the community and that in turn would help in any subsequent planning to find solutions for problems.
KAP survey is a research tool by name is assessing knowledge, attitude and practice of certain group of population to learn about a certain topic. KAP study survey will be carried out by a quantitative research method while using a predefined questions being formatted in standardized questionnaires to assess the Knowledge, Attitude and Practices about a certain topic. Such quantitative method won’t be to examine the relationship between two variables or to look for cause and effect relationship but it would be descriptive in nature.
Primary prevention includes the attempts that are to be made to get rid of a health or functional disorder at its origin to prohibit their existence. And that might include improving nutritional status and increasing physical activities and emotional well-being those that would reduce the incidence of a disease, the occurrence of new cases. Through doing such surveys an assessment of the degree of knowledge would help to locate areas where information and education efforts are needed before dealing with any problem so as to improve them later on, in a subsequent program planning, so as to face any obstacle to change, that can be may be a lack of knowledge of the benefits of health, or lack of knowledge of the problem and its severity, therefore before planning a change – to design and implement any program to improve lifestyle – it’s essential to assess patient’s knowledge attitude and practice.
On reviewing the current literature, the assessment of KAP study was usually by doing survey studies by collecting data via questionnaire whether through face to face interviews or self-administered questionnaire. By the fact that KAP survey records an “opinion” and is based on the “declarative” (i.e., statements) of participants showing what was said, but there may be considerable gaps between what is said and what is done. In saying what they don't do rather than observing their lifestyle and these data can also be collected therefore through observation but it is impossible to draw conclusions about causation from an observational study.
Some of the intensive physiotherapy courses within which the patient needs to stay in the hospital for few weeks managing their activities and eating habits can be approached with observation of patients behavior than by collecting the data from what is told to avoid such gap, even though such observation method in collection of data won’t be relied on to show causation Further evaluations by simply inspecting these aspects of the participant‘s lives, their knowledge about diabetes including skills and information they know that they acquired through education or experience, and it’s reflection in practice on their daily life basis.
