My Choice Of Future Job

“Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work” - Aristotle. Senior year of high school has to be one of the most hardest points of your life. Deciding what you want to do after high school, what college, what major, public or private, or if you even want to go to college. With so many careers out there, there has to be a perfect job for everyone. From a Careerzone interest profiler my top three careers would be a police detective, industrial organized psychologist, and a water resources specialist.

A police detective makes an average of about $103,810 per year. When wanting to be a police detective you have to work your way from the bottom up. Basic duties that police officers do is that they observe and photograph narcotic purchases and transactions they also schedule and review polygraph tests, another thing they do is investigate crime scenes and other areas, “The investigators are getting evidence all the time they've put together a package of evidence”- Doug Graham. To add on to all the exciting things police detectives do they also have great benefits from their job. Some benefits being, the good pay, room for growth, you can always move up a rank, retirement packages and insurance. You never know where the next crime is going to happen, so locations are also flexible.

Even though with all the good benefits police detectives have there are also some cons in the job. Some cons include long hours, they are always on call 24/7, and they don't get much time off “police officers will be working on a case until they solve it or close it”. The second job is an industrial organized psychologist. Basic duties that they do are analyzing data using statistical methods and applications. You also consult workers about jobs and careers, and also participating in mediation and dispute resolution. This job is a difficult job to get into but with that said the benefits for this job makeup for all the hard work. Some benefits are the good pay, the average pay being $120,410 and the starting salary being $64,940 ( career zone), and they are flexible with hours. Another benefit is the room for growth in this job, as in expanding your resources and knowledge (apa.org).With all these benefits you might be thinking the long education is worth it right well don't speak to soon because here are the cons. Firstly this is not a solo job” organized psychology offers many techniques for team building” - Johnson, you don't work pick your placement. Even Though hours are flexible you still do work a lot of hours don't let that fool you. Our last job is a water resource specialist and with a job name like that you can already assume that they are one of the most highest paying jobs. Although that's already an eye catcher thinks again. Even though this career is extremely hard to get into, there are many years of education and, you have to start off at the bottom. From there then you do have to work your way up.

With that being said they do get good benefits and some are, the paying witch is $153,000 on average and starting salary being $68,700. Another benefit from this job is they do get health insurance. A last benefit is that they also get to work indoors. This job does have some pretty good benefits don't you think? Let's hears some cons of this job. Water resource specialists do work long hours more than 40 hours a week. Don't look forward to retiring in this job because that is a long time away, it takes more than 25 years to retire from this job.

Another downside is that this job dose take a long time to get into, being said this isn't a job you will be getting fresh out of college. With so many careers out there, there has to be a one for me.

All the careers that were mentioned are amazing careers with their great benefits but also their not so good things. The job I would choose is a police detective because, they are always out looking at crime scenes and talking to people trying to get information, it's a job i would love to do. Will my work be perfection?
