My Motivation To Become A Primary Teacher
The sense of achievement that I feel when helping children learn a new concept is what encourages and excites me to become a primary teacher. Having the ability to help younger children to develop into independent and confident learners through creative, fun and positive ways is what has consolidated my decision to become a primary teacher. In the past, I have demonstrated the skills required to succeed in this course. For example, I am currently studying Psychology, Sociology and Health and Social Care, all of which entail a great deal of organisation, hard work and commitment. During my A Levels, I enjoyed planning out each day of the week so that I was fully prepared for exams and any due assignments. This helped me to keep on top of things and reduced the amount of stress that was involved in my workload. Moreover, my A Level studies have furthered my knowledge and understanding of providing assistance and care to individuals in a way that values them by treating them in a fair and respectful way. I am confident this understanding will aid me in the potential role of educating students in a way that captures their engagement during the placements in this course.
Being a people’s person with excellent career skills, I have the ability to communicate clear and decisive ideas when working in a group while listening to what others have to put forward and respecting their perspectives. I am a very polite, out-going and caring individual and I showed this in my voluntary work for my local mosque and this is also where I first discovered my passion for educating young learners. I helped the younger children with learning Arabic, socialised with people in my local community and made sure the place was kept clean and tidy. The mosque was a newly built cultural centre where volunteers, like myself, were recruited to participate in community services such as ‘cleaning-up’ the neighbourhood which brought many residents from the town together creating an excellent welcoming and sociable environment. The joy brought to me, when working with the younger children to learn through an enjoyable method, is what strengthened my passion to progress in the primary teaching field.
My voluntary work for the British Heart Foundation as a Customer Sales Assistant enabled me to gain a deeper understanding of what it is like to work as part of a team with people from different backgrounds and the experience helped me to improve my team working, time management and communication skills. What I enjoyed most about working here was the friendly environment that brought out my ability to form genuine bonds through my interactions with different types of individuals.
