My Motivation To Study In The UK
I am tempted to think that my yearning to taste the English Tea, and renowned fish ‘n’ chips and the curiosity to experience the world-famous drizzle is my biggest persuasion to study in the UK. However, it is more than just that. The UK has a special merit of having a one year master program and it is home to world-class universities such Warwick, Reading and Birkbeck. It has remarkable systems in place to back international students besides having a rich and diverse culture. Studying in the UK will be a delightful chance for me to learn about the English culture, interact with its citizens and teach them a thing or two about Kenya. The once-in-a lifetime chance to see the Buckingham Palace and the Big Ben is also a great addition to these reasons.
Kenya is among the top twenty middle and lower income economies that perform significantly better on innovation than the current level would predict according to Global Innovation Index 2017. In other words, Kenya is the “silicon savannah” of Africa. However, the high-tech advancements have led to a complex network of organizations, people, and technologies, therefore creating huge challenges to adjusting services in an era of extraordinary demand and expectations from over 40 million Kenyans. Some of these challenges prompted my interest in undertaking a course in project management for my higher education preceded by a diploma in Information Technology Management in a tertiary institute. Throughout my career, I have come to appreciate the worthiness of streamlining services and availing potential and existing clients the best experience. Service Management & Design will converge with my undergraduate degree as it also provides a framework of tools and techniques for managing service-based projects in organizations and also focuses on executing strategies and evaluating the impact. It is noteworthy to mention that in a bid to upscale my digital expertise, I am part of the D-NA program or Digital Nation Africa, a cloud-based learning and enablement platform that is powered by IBM. I have so far earned several digital badges as I anticipate taking a leading role in managing innovation and service functions in an international environment.
With this in mind, I have selected three courses; MSc Service Management & Design, MSc Information Management& Digital Business- Business Service Design and MSc Business Innovation with Information Technology Management. This means that being granted an opportunity to pursue any of the three courses will be a great opportunity for me to shape the digital experience and build a global social and economic infrastructure fit for the future of this country. I wish to develop quality skills so as to creatively solve problems for organizations and therefore meet a breadth of human needs. It is my purpose to develop crucial appreciation of tools, techniques and trends for service management and design.
