My Proudest Moment Was Example Paper

“Children are one third of our population and all of our future”. Most individual’s fail to recognise the influence a teacher has on a child, as they have the capability to develop their cognitive, emotional, social and physical skills to the best of their ability and to maximise their full potentials in life. This is one of the countless reasons that has given me the desire and determination to pursue teaching as my career. In my proudest moment was example paper I want to share what I an proud of in my life.

My granddad was my biggest motivator, he taught me skills, knowledge and facts that I will carry with me for the rest of my life and with my granddad being a teacher, I was able to witness the incredible impact he had on his students. The idea of playing an active role, teaching and helping to develop a child, appeals to me massively as I enjoy interacting with children to gain an insight into their perceptions.

By completing my degree of Sociology and Criminology, it allowed me to develop numerous skills that have been of advantage to me including the ability to work well in difficult situations, manage my time effectively and able to present my own ideas to show initiative. My core modules focused on the role children have within society and how education is an important factor in shaping a child’s life, I particularly enjoyed this module as I was able to understand the extent to which a teacher can positively impact a child.

My proudest moment was gaining the trust and confidence from a 4-year-old child with Autism who struggled to engage with other children but had a passion for expressing himself with different objects and play equipment. Although the child had behavioural issues, I was able to mirror his mentor and learn how to deal with these types of situations which involved taking him to a sensory room to calm down as well as help to develop and gain his senses using a range of stimuli. I completed an equally large amount of work experience in a mainstream primary school where I was able to interact with a larger classroom of children and convey my thoughts and ideas enthusiastically while appreciating and listening to the ideas from the pupils.

It was vital for me to gain a great amount of work experience within a teaching environment to not only benefit me in the future, but to give me an insight of a day to day life of a teacher. I chose to join multiple teaching agencies where I was able to accumulate work experience in reception classes in different primary schools including SEN schools, which increased my love for children and observing the different but unique personalities of each child. Alongside my studies I was able to work at Acorn Day Opportunities which Is an adult care centre for adults with learning and physical disabilities. By gaining this experience my confidence and understanding of special educational needs aided me whilst working in numerous SEN schools. Working with children with special educational needs can be extremely challenging, however immensely rewarding as I was able to find multiple ways of incorporating fun activities to maximise motivation and to teach the children using techniques which appealed to them. I strongly believe I was able to make a valuable contribution during my work experience as a teaching assistant by incorporating my creative skills, including drawing, piano playing and singing, to encourage the children to express themselves and to make teaching appear more interesting. I aim to integrate my artistic skills within my teaching to plan creative projects to teach children in fun yet education ways to gain the attention and interaction from every child.

I am a strong believer in acknowledging that the key to success in a workplace is to have compassion, enthusiasm and to be mentally and physically prepared to overcome any difficult situation. I pride myself on the work experience I have completed allowing me to familiarise myself with the curriculum and increasing my passion of wanting to become a primary school teacher. My granddad has driven me to pursue my ambitions, if I am able to wake up each morning knowing I have made a difference in a child’s life, I will identify myself as a brilliant teacher as he was.
