My Views On The Origins Of Life And The Nature Of Humanity

What is humanity? Do we have a purpose in life? The origins of life has always been a popular debate. The perspectives on how you see this topic is very contrasted to each other such as the theistic evolution versus the well atheistic evolution. Most Christians would believe in theistic evolution, young and old creationism, whereas the atheists would most likely believe in atheistic evolution and intelligent design. However the earth is young and that all the event such as the fall, flood and the tower of Babel literally happened.

I believe that the earth and all living things were started by the Young Earth Creationism. This theory states that the earth was created in six 24 hour days plus a day of rest 6000-1200 years ago. God wouldn’t have needed a day for rest because He is the almighty and powerful God, bu bu doing this, He created a pattern for the humans to follow. The day that God rested became the sabbath and is still kept holy by this day all over the world. After God had finished creating the world, He said that it was good. Surely during the creation God would have set the planets in motion at the very beginning and this creation has maintained until this day. This means that nothing has changed since the creation because everything was perfect, except for the environment that changed after the flood. Therefore, the earth rotates the sun the same way since the creation which means a day today was the same as a day since the creation. The stars in our universe prove that this is true. Therefore, this proves evolution wrong for if there were to be a billion year gap between each day or if earth was to be billions of years old, there surely must have been deaths before the fall.

When a person sees injustice or something that is not right, they instantly know it’s wrong. Was Adam and eve given this natural instinct since the creation? I believe that the first moral compass was given to Adam and Eve after they first sinned against God. How we act, speak and interact with others are all influenced greatly by morals that we live by. All humans were given an inner moral compass by God so that everyone has a standard to judge whether if something is right or wrong. But was all humans given an inner moral compass at birth? When God first created the earth, everything was perfect including man. Humans were made bearing the image of God and they lived by God’s standard of right and wrong. It was when Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the tree of life that their eyes were opened and were ashamed of themselves. Committing the first sin, seeking equality with God, they realized that there was good and bad in the world. Genesis 3:14-17 says, “So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, “Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crushb your head, and you will strike his heel. ” To the woman he said, “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you. ” To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it, ’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life. ”

This proves that the fall actually did happen because the curses that were given to Adam and Eve and the serpent are still true today. Men have to work hard to maintain life, women have to suffer the pain of childbirth and snakes are crawling on their stomachs to this day. Atheists believe that the fall was just a story with a religious moral to it, a story to create foundation for the bible to seem true. Casper Rigsby compares the narrative of the fall of man to the well known greek mythology, Pandora’s box. He sees that satan is the protagonist in the fall narrative and claims there is a similarity between satan and Prometheus. Prometheus was a God who made man from clay and defied Zeus himself by giving the humans fire. By doing this, they were punished. However, the fact that there are more stories from different cultures all around the world tells us that the fall did really happen and it wasn’t just a made up story. Most people are familiar with the flood narrative but are unaware that the flood was a global flood. After sin entered, contaminated the world and made the humans corrupt God decided to wipe out the earth through a flood. Noah, being the only righteous man before God at the time, was given specific instructions on how to construct the ark. He is then instructed to fill it with a pair of every kind of living creature. If this flood was a local flood, then Noah would not have had to bring all the animals with him on the ark. He himself and his family and all the other people that could walk would have moved to a place that was not flooded (It was the flood of Noah). Genesis 7:20 says, “The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than fifteen cubits. ” Water has a tendency to level itself so this proves that the flood had to be a global. Atheists who believe that the biblical flood was a local flood rather than a global flood is incorrect because the evidence that they have does not match up chronologically, geographically or logically considering that the flood was global. They claim that there are too many scientific and logical flaws for people to believe that the flood was global. Such as, how did Noah manage to round up every single species? Why would God need to save the animals and humans if He could just create them again? As for rounding all the animals to one place and managing to get them on board, we just know that God can do anything because he is all powerful and all knowing. If we disagree, then aren’t we basically questioning God’s power? Are we implying that God has limits? As for the other question, couldn’t God have just created everything again?

I believe that God saved Noah and the animals for a reason not just because he was lazy. When the world became corrupt, Noah and his family were the only righteous man, God saved him so that his descendants could know that God is a just God. Many people think that the story of the tower of Babel is just a story with an important meaning in it but the tower of Babel was literally built to reach the heavens. It is common for people to ask where the tower of Babel is today, for such a big architecture would be found somewhere in the world. During the bronze age, the ziggurat was built in the city of Ur as a temple. It is possible that the babylonians created this massive stairway to heaven for the meaning of ‘ziggurat’ means ‘the house that lifts up its head’. Also the stele of Babel records that Nebuchadnezzar rebuilt the ziggurat. This ancient record historically proves that the tower of Babel was really built, therefore the core reason to why and how we have such diversity today is from this event. God is the creator of the universe and the one who holds ultimate power. He is a powerful, and just God. In the creation story God is a all powerful and intricate designer. In the story of the fall, He is a punishing God, we can also see how God is also very just in the flood story when He saves Noah and his family. God can also be described as a forgiving God in the Babel story.

The nature of humanity is to sin and rebel. All of humanity is sinful, imperfect, and unstable. Through all these flaws and defects, people will face hardships and challenges of all sorts, but through those adversities we mature. Although mankind will need to face all these difficulties, we need to strive to become the image of God. The purpose of humanity is to seek out for help because we are weak and imperfect on our own. The question of what is wrong with the world implies that there is something that is indeed wrong with this world. The world is evil, money and power has become our priority, and it defines how much power we wield in our hands. The thought of how all people are equal has vanished from our minds because we are so concentrated on ourselves that we forget it, and it ruins us. God told us to take care and maintain nature, instead we destroy our environment for our own selfish desires and profit. The world lost its ability to love each other because we are so self centered. How do we fix the world? It starts with you. As Christians God specifically tells us to love one another. The world is ruined because we don’t love each other, so we need to show how to love and give love through our lives. We need to practice and share our love as responsible Christians. But you can’t do it alone, because you can't do anything alone, so we can start with a small organization or movement with a group of people that share the same values as you. This cannot be accomplished in a short period of time, it will take quite some time to fix the world but it isn’t impossible. In conclusion, the world was created by God in six literal days. After this, He had a day of rest which had the purpose of setting a pattern and standard for us to follow. And all the events of the creation, fall, flood, and the tower of Babel is literal. These reasons and evidences strengthens my belief and opens eyes to the characteristics and plans of God.
