Fears can be one’s worst enemy, and it hinders you from progressing. But for those who are willing to fight it, it can serve as a gateway to greatness. If you are able to overcome your fears, it will not only help you to grow but also assist you in unleashing your full potential. Fear is one of the inborn human survival instincts. That`s why in this work "Overcoming Fear Of Public Speaking Essay" we will talk about this fear and how we can overcome it.

The biggest fear of all that I have is glossophobia or the fear of public speaking. I fear public speaking the most. For as long as I can remember, public speaking has always been one that I dread the most. Be it a simple class presentation or a speech in front of the people, I can hardly utter my words out either due to fear or nervousness. The sudden view of the audience and the quietest silence make my heart thump against my chest which makes my gait unstable. Then, I can vividly remember the hot blood rush up to my brain. My cheeks become flaming bright red when I see dozens of eyes staring at me, waiting up impatiently for me to speak my words. The situation becomes so worse that the reading material that I carry with me gets out of its shape squeezed mercilessly between my hands. From a list of things required to face my fears, I would encourage myself to be confident enough. In other words, to build up my self-esteem are the two pinnacles, which I have to reach in order to fight my fear of speaking in front of people.

To be able to speak before a large crowd, I need to work on my confidence. As rightly stated by Stanford neuroscientist, “Exposure is hands down the most successful way to deal with phobias, anxiety disorders, and everyday fears of any sorts”. Consequently, to boost my confidence I need to practise giving a talk in front of my friends and families more often. To enhance my self-esteem I need to be optimistic, I need to acknowledge my fears and learn to be fearless. As Stated by Noam Shpancer, “One of the effective ways to banish fear is to repeatedly force yourself to face what you are afraid of. ”

Therefore I will try to look for such opportunities that help me get more exposure to what I fear the most with confidence and optimism so that I can push myself beyond the limits and away from my comfort zone until everything becomes manageable. The best thing that could happen if I face my fear is that I can be true to myself. According to Yongey Minjur Rinpoche, “We must make friends with our problems”. In other words, if one has anxiety disorder, one has to learn to meditate consistently to slowly become adaptable with his/her anxiety and so forth. Thus, I will learn different strategies to cope up with my fear to reveal my authenticity. This ability can make me develop good communication skills that can eventually excel my social bonding with people around. It can enhance my personality making my life a better and satisfying one.

Overcoming my fear of public speaking can help me to strengthen my inner strength and boost my self-esteem status to a higher level. It can make my life more meaningful. To encapsulate, if I want to become a better version of myself, I need to face my fears head-on. Successful growth starts when we get out of our comfort zone because it gives us the power and confidence which we thought we would never have, to climb the staircase of fearlessness. When we become aware of our greatest fear that is meant to upgrade us into a better person, we will be able to then start using it to our own advantage and proceed without being anxious and afraid of whatever comes in our way that might obstruct our purposes.
