Properties Of 3D Printing And Comparison Of CC

This paper mainly gives the properties of CC and the comparison of the CC compared with the traditional method.

Properties of CC

a) Workability

The term workability means that, it is the ease of the freshly mixed concrete have the placing, consolidation and finishing and also the degree to which it resist the segregation.

b) Extrudability

The term extrudability means that, through the hopper and pumping system to nozzle to which the fresh concrete can transport. This ability is known as extrudability. Where it must be extruded as a continuous filament. Here, the concrete mixture should have the good rate of extrudability. If the concrete has the less rate of extrudability then the concrete create clog points inside the 3D printer machine which causes the delays and maintenance necessity.

c) Curing

The term curing means that protect the concrete from the loss of moisture and kept with in a reasonable temperature range. Then curing which will increases the strength and decrease the permeability. Also, the curing mitigating cracks and also which affect the durability.

d) Mixture

The concrete is a mix of the several components. The mix ranges depends on the application necessities. In which the material that are used for the 3D printed concrete are not cheap. E. g. : Usually the size of the aggregates should not be over 2mm and most part of the times, additives like super plasticizer, retards, accelerator and polypropylene fibers are needed, and they are very expensive.

e) Strength

The term compressive strength defined as, the maximum resistance of a concrete specimenSpecimen to the axial loading. It is generally taken as mega pascal (MP) or square inch (Psi) at an age of 28 days.

Comparison of CC

a) Labor

Traditional method: The main challenges that facing today by the construction field is the finding of the workers. It is very difficult to getting highly qualified, trained workers.

CC method: The main advantages of the CC is the, in which it needs only few number of workers at the construction site. In which only the specialized people can operate the machine. So, not only for men, at construction site at which woman and elderly people can be work. Also, it can be work in 24 hours.

b) Safety

Traditional method: In which, the people doing the harmful works. Then, the common injuries and deaths are happended to the workers. Such as head injuries, spinal cord injuries and bone fracture. Here, the labors are works at dangour situation during the construction time.

CC method: Here, the computer executes almost every thing, and also it needs the few number of workers. Then, it provides zero injuries and death rates and it is very safe method.

c) Sustainability

Traditional method: After the construction process, it create a lot of wastage of material. Then it will emits lot of harmful toxic materials. Then it should affect the sustainability of the nature.

CC method: In this technique in which the construction is done without the waste. Also, it requires less energy for the construction process.

d) Productivity

Traditional method: The construction will last at months and even years. Then it will causes the work failures and also the workers get tired. Then it’s allows the less productivity.

CC method: Here, we can construct 10 houses in a single day and all the process are done by computers before the construction process. Then the workers not feel any tiredness.
