Quality Of Work As An Indicator To Determine The Graduates’ Performance On Employers’ Perception
On-the-job training prepares a student to become an aspiring leader, for that reason, the education sector should supply quality standard to its curriculum. Some preparation for training program includes assigning interns to a school to simply adapt and experience the setting. While other internships connect theories to clinical practice by incorporating real-life duty such as making schedules, analyzing data or practicing the profession. Indeed, persistent researches are needed for the betterment of internship. A preparatory on-the-job training will demonstrate the process on how it will transform an individual to become a competent leader.
Based on the study of D’Abate, Youndt & Wenzel (2009), business and management students as their respondent, distinguished that job characteristics and work environment dynamically influenced internship satisfaction. Studies before provided recommendations that will help improve the quality of educational system: justifying that licensure programs will connect with research-based practices which conforms to student achievement, assure that mentors with deep understanding should only educate its students, optimize resources to develop comprehensive programs, employ assessment tools as feedback for improvements, and generate various methods to corroborate new policy that will promote quality standard and eliminate absurdity.
Furthermore, a study of Plantilla (2017) conducted in Minnesota, collected data from regional employers to determine what essential skills do their graduates need to improve in order to reach high performance level. Results have shown that employers were satisfied with the graduates’ overall quality of work; general knowledge and specialized skills were adequate; projected positive attitude and ability to understand direction; and customer service skills were present. Wherefore proving that employers will evaluate the graduates by the quality of work they perform thus lead to satisfactory assessment. In general, quality of work life is believed to be one of the most critical concepts in an employee’s life. It is important for all organizations to promote high quality of work life for it will help maintain strong relationship with the employees and attract future employment. Changes in the labor market were inevitable, such as economic delocalization, the introduction of new technologies worldwide and high demand of flexible employees with wide-ranging skills. To efficiently deal with these changes, different directives were established, which meant to foster beneficial labor force, ensure quality standard jobs & trainings to support employees in responding all facets of development. These directives also included the needs of expanding economic work quality indicators, suchlike psychosocial factors — as a demographic, economic and social problems. Economic progress depends not only on production but also on the working conditions of the workers, thus if employers continue to ignore the necessities of their employees the less quality of work they provide. Psychosocial factors at work should be well defined to anticipate the possible effects; to foresee if these could bring adverse effect towards employees’ performance.
To recruit employees with competent skills are the top most objective of every employer. In particular, accounting employees are expected to possess wide range of skills and knowledge that will meet the mission of the company. Feedbacks from most employers saying that accounting university programs are unable to equip their students with the required qualifications. Studies from different sources have concluded that there is a gap between the university’s quality of graduates and the market demand. For that reason, training programs and employers have created reinforcements that could benefit both parties. Thus, quality of work will be a good indicator to determine the graduates’ performance on employers’ perception. The findings of this study will serve as a basis in reforming business programs curriculum, such will also used as a basis for policy reformulation and implementation. Proper attention towards employees’ developing competence quality of work by employers, labor agencies, and policy makers may help resolve the problems on job performance.
