Reflection Note On My Participation In Project Work
The reflection note is the analysis of the activities or collaboration as being a group member and also tells the things that I need to improve to be an effective group member. The reflection note describes a situation that I faced in the project process and how this situation influence the project work. This note also describe a situation which had an impact on the collaboration process, thoughts, feelings, other group member reaction, what problem I faced in the project and how we solved.
Reflection in the project process
At the first day of the blast off week all of us have not much idea that where do we start. So after study of Gildeskal Municipality’s plan, present situation and their goal/mission I did a wrong assumption for the development and to achieve their goals. As the municipality’s goals is to increase their population by 12.5% by 2027 and they are focusing on aquaculture and tourism for the development, so I primarily thought for increasing population in Gildeskal they need to develop their infrastructure and to attract the tourists they need to built hotels in their land.
But next day when we visited their land, Gildeskal and I found that from Bodo to Gildeskal the road condition is quite good. I also found that there is not enough activities which can attract tourist to visit Gildeskal, so built hotels is not the solution, because if tourist not come then who will stay on the hotel. So I turned back from my wrong assumption for which I influenced the group members to work on this concept. After that we sat on library and all group members starts thinking something innovative, special and different from others Municipalities which can attract tourist to visit Gildeskål.
When tourists will start to go there many companies will be motivated to invest in Gildeskål. Day by day many coffee shops, bars, restaurants will be setup and increase the population. We spoke to project coordinator Petter Kjærnes and architect students working with the same project to get some information about the town. When getting info about the approximate costs of an authentic viking ship we spoke with the Danish viking ship museum in Roskilde.
To put Gildeskål on the map we wanted to create something in line with their ways of thinking, something innovative, but also connected to their historical roots. Therefore, we came up with the idea of vikings. From this situation I learned any primary assumption should not be taken as final decision, because there are lots of things need to focus on when you do an innovative work for the betterment of something and I also learned how to control you in making wrong decision. Reflection in the collaboration process I will appreciate the effort that my group gave for the project work and respect to each other. I can say with confident that my group was too good in taking decision and united too.
My team was full of energy and different perspectives of life and experience that helped me and my group members to interact with each other and learn & deal with different opinions. But there were some arguments during the discussion and I observed there were some conflicts on the opinions. If I say, one group member shares his innovative idea and other member was thinking about another idea, so it was very difficult to accept ones idea by others. But the action was positive, we always tried to avoid conflict and in that situation all the group members carefully listened particular opinion and raised arguments for each idea and finally whose idea we found logical and feasible that was taken by group.
Every group member was serious about his grade and ager to own poster prize so no one compromise others if any idea found illogical. I think the way of action we taken to minimize conflict that was perfect. I have learned from this situation that to work in group if conflict arise all we should go deep on everyone issues and take the logical and feasible one for further work. This teamwork and experience I gain from collaboration process will help me in building my own visionary decision in the group and this experience will also me in my future work life.
As I want to see myself as leader or CEO of a organization so this experience will help to make any decision on any development work. My contribution and involvement in the group was quit good for me as I learnt a lot and something really inspired me like joining group discussion, responsibility etc. My ability of taking decision faster improved a lot and learnt about project work process and learnt how to think innovative for future winnings. The participation in a group of making presentation, doing research, data collection, poster design, going to the discussion really help me of time management too. My personality and basic communication skills improved day by day there were some difficulties in starting, but it gone out and my self-confidence got improved.
