Reflection On Reading Sisters Brothers By Patrick DeWitt
While reading Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt, I wasn’t very interested in the book. I had no idea what the book was going to be about, I was pretty bored reading the book. Although the story wasn’t too hard to understand. The story was more of a western type, the sisters and brothers are assassinas in this book that get sent to kill Hermann Kermit Warm, he is an indinoius and well respected man. Who gets blamed of stealing from the sister’s Commodore.
This is the kind of book I personally probably wouldn't read, it was full of thieves and it was very toxic. I didn't really like any of the characters, except for the innocent ones. Like “Herman Warm the prospector” who creates a formula to reveal the place of the gold that is hidden in the river bends, so instead of murdering him they chose to join him and once the get what they want they muder him. These kind of characters are called “gold diggers” nowadays, all they want is money, and expensive things, nice cars, etc, and after when they get what they what, they’ll either leave, or end up switching spots with like, taking everything from you and they’ll be the rich ones with the money and you’ll end up on the streets, when you were the one that worked hard to get to where you are. If you don't pay attention and keep your eyes out in a "snap of a finger” poof! It’s gone. Just like Herman he was used and betrayed, he developed a "Chemical Formula" to reveal that gold and that took time and effort, but just like that he lost it all, and he got nothing back, he was used and than murdered. “To kill him is the thing”. This is where they decide to murder Herman after the think he stoe orm the sisters commorodere, so they get ready to murder him, but they change their mind after the see him, and find out he has all the gold so the trick him and tell him that they’re going to “join” him and and take advantage of him after they get what they want and than they murder him. Charlie the older brother of the siblings is the “leader” to go and kill Herman. He was always violent from his childhood, he was the killer of his own father. Eli, had to look after Charlie, even though Charlie is the older one. Eli isn’t violent at all the opposite of his brother. Charlie got into being violent and fighting was to back up his brother Eli, Eli stays away from trouble so if he faces any kind of trouble. So that’s when Charlie steps in and starts getting violent and fighting. “I was not an efficient killer, I was not and had ever been and would never be. Charlie had been able to make use of my temper was all; he had manipulated me, exploited my personality, just as a man prods a rooster before a cocfight.
I thought, how many times have I pulled my pistol on a stranger and fired a bullet into his body, my heart a mad drum of outrage, for the lone reason that he was firing at Charlie, and my very soul demanded I protect my own flesh and blood?.
