Respect Is What I Believe In

I believe in respect. Having respect to everything doesn’t matter what it is. Respecting your friend, family, even your enemies, respect people who don’t deserve it, respect for nature, and respect for yourself, which should be the first respect you should have. To earn respect it stands in need of effort.

In April of last year, I was driving home from being at my friend’s house that afternoon when I saw about 3 or 4 teenagers hurting and abusing a little Dachshund behind a banned building. It was a street dog about 6 inches long. They were throwing rocks and sticks at it until it actually was hitting him. So I drove over and honked my horn making the teens running and leaving the dog. I slowly walked over as it laid on the ground while checked it carefully to find that he has open wounds and a sprained leg. I took it home and nursed him up, and gave it food. I called my mother for her approval to keep it for a while, she agreed. After a few weeks his leg was fine and wounds was healed. I felt good that I saved a stranded dog. It was time to let him go because we weren’t allowed to have pets. We had given him away to one of my family member to be loved rather than giving to the shelter.

A week later, while I was outside my house, my aunt called saying the dog had ran away. So I got so sad then out of nowhere he was running towards me. I felt relieved and happy that he was safe and not hurt. My mother and I had let him stay the night then took him back to my aunt. So once a week I visit and play with him.

Thinking back on it now, I begin to think that respect is something you give away, more you have the better you feel. I learned that I should respect everything because it won’t just help them I will also benefit me and have a better life. I remember my grandma told me that “respect for ourselves guides our morals, respect for others guides out manners”. I learned that respect is for those who deserve it, not for those who demand it.

In school we are informed us about respect, and should have respect each other and the principals, but didn’t tell us what we can get out of it. They don’t explain in detail about how much we get out of just having a little respect. Don’t explain that it is a terrific feeling to have people respect you and knowing that you earned it.

I have experienced various of situations teaching me respect and I think I still have a lot more to learn. Respect is something that I strongly believe in. respect is what makes individuals succeful I will try to have respect for everything in my life. R. G. Risch had once said, “respect is a two -way street, if you want to get it, you’ve got to give it” and this I believe.
