Ronald Reagan - American President That Became a Hero
Ronald Reagan is still a very popular figure in today’s politics. Reagan was a hero of liberalism in the 80’s. He has always defended free trade and was a great figure of the 'Grand Old Party ». He was President of the United States from 1981 to 1989, indeed, he won the presidential election against incumbent President Jimmy Carter. He’s still a very popular figure today, thanks to his accomplishments as President. Reagan was part of the New Right movement and he was against the Communists: this is one of the highlights of his campaign and his mandates. He has always been close to the media so that his appearance is good. This is something that we find particularly with the current president of the United States.
Indeed, there is still nostalgia nowadays and many current voters see in Trump a ressemblance to Reagan. Trump’s slogan « Make America Great Again » closely resembles to Reagan’s slogan « Let’s Make America Great Again » and this is not their only common point. Reagan and Trump have both been men of entertainment. The first made an acting career in Hollywood, he started in Las Vegas and had a job in the general electric theater, before turning to politics. The latter has always sought light, especially on television, and he had a phenomenal success with a reality show. Reagan was a great communicator like the add of his reelection in 1984 and that’s also one of Trump's special strengths. Both are champion of liberalism and conservative ideas.
To conclude, Reagan still remains one of the most popular presidents in American history because of his optimism for the country, his radical measures and his way of communicating with the American people.
