What is Sign Language?

Sign languages are full complete natural languages with their own grammar, rules and vocabulary. Sign Languages are very important communication way or tool for many deaf people and hard hearing people. Sign Languages can be used when the spoken language is physically impossible to communicate with the person who is deaf or hard hearing. Sign Languages are the native language of deaf community. There are many sign languages used in this world .And it is unclear that how many sign languages are used currently in this worldwide. Each country has its own sign language with their own grammar, rules and vocabulary. And even some has more than one sign languages with different gestures and sign to communicate with deaf people.

Forms of Sign Language

There are many different forms of Sign Language. But there are three major forms of sign language used in United States.

American Sign Language (ASL)

ASL is used by many deaf and hard of hearing people in the United States. Speech, reading or listening skills are not very important to learn ASL, it’s a manual language and ideas can be understood easily. The ASL is free-flowing and natural and can be easily translated into many different spoken languages and easily understood by many people.ASL has its own rules, idioms, syntax and grammar. ASL is signed and used easily in countries around the world.

Pidgin Signed English (PSE) or Signed English

PSE is the most ordinarily utilized communication through signing in the United States among hard of hearing people. The vocabulary is drawn from ASL, anyway it takes after English word arrange. Signing Exact English (SEE)
