Personal background

I lived with my family in a town called Juapong in the Volta region of Ghana which has the largest textile manufacturing company in Ghana called Juapong Textile Limited and now Volta Star Textile Limited. The local economy of Juapong was doing well until early 2000 when the company was declared insolvent and thousands of workers laid off. My father’s carpentry business was almost onits knees few years after the incident,for this reason my parents decided to take me and my siblings to a suburb of the capital city called Taifa-Accra to start life all over againafter I have graduated from Junior High School in Juapong.Although my parents did not have enough money for my high school tuition fees, they worked very hard to support me. I remember my mother always prays during our morning devotion that God should promote one of her children to a management position to go back and save the textile company. I understand how difficult my parents worked and I promised myself that I must gain admission into university and take up a management role in the future. With hard work and determination, I met the entry requirement and was admitted into one of the top business Universities (University of Professional Studies, Accra)and majored in Banking and Finance.I have been awarded a Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance. I have planned to pursue a Master degree in the field of Administration in one of the best economies in the world to be well resourced and well-rounded background professional as far as organizational management is concern.

Academic Background

I have completed my undergraduate studies in Banking and Finance from University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) in August, 2017 with accumulated GPA of 2.98 out of 4.00. I was very active in my academic work notwithstanding my busy schedule over the weekend to help my parents to raise money for my upkeep, tuition fees and academic supplies. I am very friendly and exuberant person who easily adopts and understand the demographics of new environments I find myself. I have led a group of ten members from level 200 to 400 and also led my final year thesis group of four effectively. I was able to learn over the years and has mastered the ability to lead effectively through effective and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to organize and coordinate people from diverse culture and perspective to achieve a set goal. I have researched the effect of corporate governance on leverage of listed firms on Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) and also researched the days of the week, the weekend, and the months of the year calendar anomalies on the

The outcomes of these research have pointed to the reasons why most business startups could not raise funds, do not do well and collapse few years after operation. Weak and bad corporate governance; structure, management, and information handling has been the problem of most listed firms on the GSE. Because of my ardent and motivation in business administration and good corporate governance, I have applied and been granted 8 weeks internship program with SIC Life Company Limited in Accra. My smooth transition and fast learning ability have impressed my supervisor,so has recommended me from procurement unit to accounts unit to learn and assist them since they needed more human resources at the unit.I have developed strong interest in business administration through the application of my finance background especially in procurement processes during the internship program and decided to acquired master degree in business administration (MBA).

Reasons to Study in China

The fact that China has been emerging as an eminent educational gateway and being a long significant trade and investment partner of Ghana has inspired me to apply for this scholarship. Undeniably, China's heavy investment in education has resulted in provision of high-quality education and its universities have high reputation which makes a great aspiration and attract many students and professionals for a better career perspective. China provides an environment suited for businesswithin one of the most dynamic and fast-growing economies in today’s world. The growth paceof China is evident by the increasing mobility of international trade and heavy investment in the world’s human resource. The impact of China’s investment in my country is an evidence of the quality of education especially in business management.

In addition, great interest to me is China's diverse, vibrant and well-preserved culture. I will be grateful and honored to have the opportunity to learn and live the norms and values of the Chinese people as well as appreciatethe great cuisines of China. All these reasons make China the ideal country to study Master degree as a means of acquiring the best key to unlock the best business practice in my country.

I would like to apply for an MBA programin china becauseof my final year research, past internship, national service and current professional experience which caught my attention to master in the field from the best practical economies in the world which obviously is China.These is evident not only in the news or research works but apparent via direct and indirect investment in almost every sector of the economy of Ghana.

MBA programs in China usually cover two years to be completed. During this period, I will put great concentration on solidificationofall expected skills; managerial skills, strategic thinking, innovation, research capability, linguistic competence and international network.

During my first year, I will make the effort to orally learn Mandarin from Chinese colleagues to diversify my linguistic competencies. With such international environment, I would put effort in building up network with professors, local people and overseas friends to accumulate multi-cultural experiences. My first-year goal is to intensify efforts to understand and be part of the China’s cultural demographicsand also work very hard to achieve the expected course outcome and personal set development targets.

Finally, during my second year, I will focus more on seminars and other practical opportunity avenues (internship programs) provided by the University authority. My final year thesis (if required) will focus on Small Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in quest to unraveling the strategies employed by the local entrepreneurs.Iwill be looking forward to scheduling my private studies, physical exercising, and other social activities over the weekend base on the serene atmosphere which I am yet to experience.During vacation periods, I will tour various tourist sites and business centers to observe and take note of possible pragmatic practices that would make my career successful.

Taking advantage of invaluable knowledge from the two years studies, advanced theories in Banking and Finance undergraduate degree, and two years administrative experience, I would ensure that I am prepared mentally and physically to successfully graduate from the University as a complete human resource package to contribute significantly to the development of my beloved country Ghana.

Conclusion

The ties between Ghana and China is paramount and highly esteemedsoawarding me an MBA scholarship (fully funded preferably) is giving “Ghana the opportunity” to improve upon her national administrative human resource stock to save collapsing and underperforming firms. This opportunity will alsoenable me to attainmy lifetime dream and inspire generations that it is possible regardless of difficult beginnings.
