The Consequences From Different Types Of Pollution

Air Quality

Air quality is one of the many things that can be affectedby construction projects. Air pollution can occur on sites which may havethings like demolition in progress, a site that is grinding things like timberor stone which will generate dust as well as a site which has items being burntin a fire. The demolition process and the grinding process will generate a lot of dust, which can cause breathing problems like asthma or bronchitis.

Sites which burn things like waste or toxic materials will generate high levels ofharmful gasses like carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, which will increase theair pollution. Site which also have vehicle use like cars, trucks or machinerylike forklifts or excavators will also increase air pollution rates becausethey produce C02. They can reduce the amount of air pollution at a constructionsite by not using vehicles when the work can be done safely and within thehealth and safety at work regulation. This will reduce the amount of C02 beingreleased. You can also prevent this by putting waste in the landfill binsinstead of burning it.

Soil Quality

The soil quality is another thing that can be affected byconstruction projects because in the majority of the projects, land will haveto be cleared and this can affect the soil depending on how they would do this.If they used chemicals in the soil or use huge vehicles to move things constantly, this can have a negative effect on the soil, as it can damage itand make it unusable at any future date. They can prevent damaging the soil quality by using less vehicles and clearing land without the use of any chemicals.

Biodiversity

When the construction takes places, this could affect thenatural habitats near the site and on it. The problem is that if there is landbeing modified, this will mean that any habitat in that area will most likebecome destroyed, meaning that plants and animals will have to leave that areato find another area. Another problem is the noise. There is a lot of noise that comes from construction sites meaning that anyone or anything around willbe disturbed by these noises. This can also affect habitats in water as well as many sites will drop waste into rivers or lakes etc. To prevent this from happening, the workers can use more silent methods when possible, as well as landscaping, which is doing things like planting trees or plants that have been affected by the construction process.
