The Deadly Side Effect Of Over-Consuming Candy

When it comes to candy popularity, Canada is one of the countries that is tough to beat. In fact, the average Canadian teenagers eat almost 25 pounds of candy a year, which is about 3 candy bars per person (based on Statistics Canada Research Ins). Most candies are made of sugar and artificial sweeteners. One in every five sucrose that Canadian teenagers consume comes from artificial sugar and sweeteners. Over time, taking an excessive amount of sugar can lead to diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. Taking loads of candy can affect your health due to many precarious reasons.

Consuming too much sugar is bad for your body due to its high calories, and because if you have diabetes or a diabetes-related similar condition such as; high blood fat levels, formerly taking sugar in your body will boost your sugar level in your blood and your triglycerides, a type of fat (lipid) found in your blood. It also provides your brain with a colossal surge of a feel-good chemical called dopamine, which clarifies the reason you are more likely to lust after a candy bar at lunch than an apple or an orange. Because whole natural foods like fruits and veggies don’t cause the brain to release as much dopamine as simple sugar, your brain starts to need more and more simple sugar to get that same feeling. When you consume simple or artificial sugar, the insulin hormone in your bloodstream can affect your arteries, any of the muscular-walled tubes. It causes their walls to grow thicker and denser than usual, which adds pressure to your heart and damages it. This can lead to heart attacks, heart disease, and strokes. Furthermore, researchers and scientists advise that consuming less sugar can aid lower blood pressure, chances of heart disease/attacks. In addition, people who consume a lot of artificial or simple sugars are twice as likely to die of heart disease. Observing sugar increase your blood sugar levels, providing a burst of energy. However, when your levels drop as your cells absorb the sugar, you may feel weary and anxious.

To restore that energy, you will consume more sugar. When this cycle continues, it will lead you to a higher risk of depression. Another side effect of taking a high amount of sugar is that it makes your skin age faster. Sugar sticks to proteins in your bloodstream, creating noxious molecules called “AGEs,” or Advanced Glycation End products. These molecules make your skin look older by stretching the skin cells. They have been shown to damage Elastin and Collagen in your skin, which are protein fibres that keep your skin firm and tight. The second major ingredient of candy is artificial sweeteners. Most of the sweeteners are cheap and easy to make. Some companies provide it for those who want to reduce their caloric intake and to lose weight. However, artificial sweeteners are not the way to go.

Although sweeteners have zero-calories, it contains toxic chemicals that destroy your body system. Most candies are made of these chemicals: sucralose, aspartame and saccharin. Consumers instantly reach for these artificial sweeteners in order to replace the trait of sugar while ingesting little to no added calories. However, they do not know the side effects and health risk factors correlated with the ingestion of these chemicals. More studies and research need to be conducted, but scientists and researchers believe that there is a relationship between sweeteners and certain cancers, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, autism, and systemic lupus. Consumers are afraid of this relationship between sweeteners and cancers and they should be. As a result, ingesting a massive amount of candy put yourself into the edge of the cliff in your life. Our body has a certain amount of storage and cleaners to store and clean toxic materials. Nevertheless, if you ingest it too much, the material is going to leak, causing a disaster in your body.
