The History & Beauty Of Burgundy, France

Most people like to travel. There are so many beautiful places to go, it's really hard to pick just one place. People often desire to go to Paris, Italy, or Greece. Another destination to consider is Burgundy, France. It is very beautiful. Burgundy has a lot of history. Burgundy is very well known for its wine, artwork, the first photography and great hotels. Burgundy has a very large population of 1,700,000. Most of the population would be in the biggest city of Dijon.

Dijon is one of the historic capital of Burgundy. Burgundy also had many other historic sites like Autan, Beaune and Macon. Burgundy is world famous for its wine for centuries now. Also Burgundy is also known to be a free country. “Burgundy is a historic region in east-central France. It has a population of about 1,700,00 and covers 12,194 square miles. Dijon is its largest city. For centuries, Burgundy wines have been world famous” (Bernson).

The name Burgundy came to be in the 400s. Burgundy is known as a kingdom of France and the kingdom covered most of the southeastern of France. They established a kingdom that covered most of present-day southeastern France. Back in 1972 is when Burgundy was established with the same name as in the 17th and 18th centuries. Burgundy use to be a large empire, but that has changed over time. The Dukes of Burgundy as at one time a large empire spreading though easter France, into Germany, up to Belgium and the Flanders. Burgundy is labeled as the land of fine arts and living because it is one of the most fascinating regions.

Also in the village of Dijon in the middle of the village stands a fountain. The Ducal palace still stands at the city's heart the adjacent Musee des Beaux-Arts house the Lavish tombs of the duchy’s formidables rulers and well worth a visit. After the partitions of the carolingian two new kingdoms was found. Burgundy nevertheless survived as a political concept, and after the partitions of the carolingian empire two new Burgundian Kingdoms were founded, Cisjurane Burgundy, or Provence, in the South and Transjurane Burgundy in the North.

The golden age of Burgundy began in 1364. At one time Burgundy was a large empire. The wine throughout Burgundy was introduced by the Romans and this all started in the northlands. The wine making was passed down. “Wines were introduced by the Romans as they progressed northwards along the Rhone valley; and then mastered by the monks at Nuit Saint George, creating famous names like Volnay, Pommard,Gevrey and Aloxe Corton which are now known throughout the world” (“Burgundy Region”).

Burgundy has a long history and for there to be history there has to be people. Some of the people that helped made Burgundy history happened is Charles the second, Robert the second and Charles son Henry. The history of those three guys is Burgund was duchy back in 877. Robert had a good claim of the duchy but Henry gave it to his brother in 1031. BurOne big thing that has changed in Burgundy is the Burgundy Canal. The canal is a 250 kilometres. The construction of the Canal includes a staircase and it has changed the destiny of the waterways.

One of the most important changes for Burgundy was the construction of the Burgundy Canal. It dramatically changed the social evolution for hundreds of small villages and hamlets. Today the canal is a fleet cargo that carries hotel barges and boat rentals. The type of food and drinks that you can find in the small villages of Burgundy is red or white wine, there are a lot of places throughout Burgundy that sells wine as they are famous for their wine. Some of the food that is in Burgundy would be cheese, bread, beef and much more.

There are a lot of five star places in Burgundy that could have affordable prices. Whilst the gastronomic restaurants with the highest standards and star ratings can be found in all the corners of Burgundy. Also good beef, butter and fish. There are also manufacturing plants and manufacturing plants are just factories. “The region also produces excellent beef, chicken, butter, fish and snail. Many manufacturing plants operate in the region” (Burgundy).

Some of the hot spot in Burgundy would be in the village Autun as the first one. In the village Autumn is a National Park. This park was founded by the Roman emperor and it still has a scattering of the Roman Monuments. The second place would be the oldest buildings in Digon. This building has wooden beamed that was later cared stone. “The oldest building have wood-boom storeys overhanging the streets. The later Renaissance edifices are built of finely carved stone” (Burgundy Attraction). Some other places that would be nice to visit is Fontenay Church, Cloisters and dormitory.

In concluding Burgundy Frances seem to be a good place to travel to. There is a lot of history on the villages in Burgundy that would be nice to learn more about. Going to places to eat there would be different from the U.S. and it would be interesting to try some of the food or even there famous wine.
