The Importance Of Motivation Factors For Students

Well, it's self-evident now that psychological, physiological, safety, self-esteem, etc. are the essential needs that each learner must have. Each of them is considered a priority for him to attain first. No learning or even achievement is realized unless these needs are actually made felt and fulfilled in a learner's life.

So, this does justify the results related to motivation have unexpectedly been astonishing. It's a proof that the learners meant for the study have had their own needs which are not attained due to a variety of reasons, the most important of which is that they are not feeling secured. Safety is almost absent, if not nill. The surrounding environment doesn't provide them with the least amount of security required by them to be highly intrinsically motivated.

Thus, being and/or feeling insecured involves a decisive lack or scarcity of all the other need-related factors that really do contribute to help him/ her think of being reasonably motivated to achieve or rather attain real kind of learning.

All the needs mentioned in the article above have almost no existence in the learner's actual life, whether at home or in the college. This, of course, justifies the unexpected result (88% of extrinsic motivation). It has only one, and only one, interpretation that can be summed up in their inner-felt desire to achieve a sort of safety, by putting ahead of them success and / or graduation with a degree as an ultimate goal to achieve. And, they, unfortunately, have no other option to resort to, as it's for them the only factor that connects them to learning ( and, achievement, if any). The other 12% of intrinsic motivation doesn't necessarily reflect an actual of highly motivated learners.

It's so simply because learners who join the faculties of education/ department of English for the sake of learning as well as achievement no longer exist at present, and this can even be traced for the past decade of years or so. It might be somehow a bit frustrating to mention that there's a great scarcity of this kind of learners; and, if any, they cannot make more than 1%.

Being a curiously acute observant, I have always been aware of how motivated my students are through their tendency to learn more and more in any given course. Nowadays, one can plainly notice that the majority of the learners lack the least interest in grasping a big deal of the content of the materials provided.
