The importance of science, technology, and society cannot be overstated in today's world. The rapid pace of scientific and technological advancements has greatly impacted human life, transforming how we live, work, and interact with one another. From healthcare to transportation, communication to entertainment, science and technology have revolutionized every aspect of modern society, making our lives more convenient, efficient, and comfortable. However, the importance of understanding the societal impact of these advancements cannot be ignored. It is crucial that we critically examine the ethical, economic, and social implications of these developments, to ensure that they are used for the greater good of humanity. Therefore, it is vital to discuss and reflect on the importance of science, technology, and society in this essay to further understand the relationship between these three fields and how they shape the future of our world.
As a Generation Z, many technological innovations are used to make one’s life better, easier, convenient, and efficient. As I lived in a cyberworld, smart gadgets we typically used to help and ease extra work for a student like me. In just one type, a letter appears on my screen, and as I move and click my mouse, the information I needed pops out. On a good note, this kind of fast-paced life helped me to move forward and learn more to be great in the future.
Additionally, I shared my thoughts and opinions in my community with the use of different social media sites. The news I wanted to disseminate to other people far away is easily contacted and get connected. The amount of help gathered, particularly where we faced this pandemic, what so-called “bayanihan” of Filipinos can be seen. They put up a community pantry for everyone who is having a hard time putting food on their table for a day and to help those who are more fortunate by giving any kind of donations. It was then posted on social media platforms and many places are inspired to do the same not for the sake of popularity but to help at any cost.
On the other hand, some scientific discoveries put harm on the future generation. Climate change and global warming are some of the dilemmas this age is still trying to find the answer to. A lot of campaigns and environmental groups are raising awareness to the public like reducing the use of plastics, specifically the single-used ones. Some are focusing on the endangered species of animals, some divert themselves into vegan to put an end to animal cruelty, and some reduce their carbon footprint. This may be a difficult decision to change lifestyle but makes a lot of sense and could make a bigger difference in the world. After all, a single step towards better makes a lot of improvement if all people do the same, if the society unites, everything is possible.
At an earlier time, people were still confused as to whom will give their trust and believed them. They act not because of their opinion but because of what is believed by the majority population. Numerous wrong speculations resurfaced like what is in the center of the universe, is it the Sun or the Earth? It was the scientists against the church which is the most powerful institution during that time.
Church believed in Ptolemy and Aristotle's idea that earth is in the center of the universe or known as the geocentric model and it was indeed a unique one. However, scientists like Nicolaus Copernicus, Johannes Kepler, Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, and a priest, Giordano Bruno that the earth is not the center of the universe but the sun or the heliocentric model. They also introduced evidence, calculations, theories, and inventions that will prove they were correct that led them to face consequences like death.

Accepting their opinions and ideas and at the same time, giving accurate information to them that will surely prove their beliefs wrong will help them to understand both sides. As a listener who encounters people with different perspectives in life, it is a must to respect their opinions. At the end of the day, we cannot change other people’s mind just by listening to other but being open to any ideas will give both parties satisfaction on what they believe in.
In Kawit, Cavite, some activities and plans will be an advantage to its constituents. One major plan is Evo City, a smart city that will provide commercialize, work, opportunities, convenience, and an accessible environment. This also aims to increase the economic rate, healthy lifestyle, and eco-friendly environment by putting bike lanes, stormwater management, solar panel powered lamps, and waste reduction programs.
Thus, Kawit is ready for the Sustainable Community because of its plan with Evo City. It is possible by using renewable sources to function a smart city. Science and Technology are indeed having a great contribution to society. The inventions and discoveries of known and unknown inventors and scientists around the world made it happen for people to live in a better world. Furthermore, the sacrifice of some scientists is truly amazing.
