The Influence Of Logic’s Songs On American People
Logic is an American rapper whose songs have had multiple influential songs such as Black Spiderman, Suicide hotline and Take it back, these three songs are the most influential as well has made his career skyrocket with the messages of peace, love, and equality. Logic being a 28-year biracial rapper from Maryland he had quite the journey from being a young troublemaker to a young rapper even though Maryland doesn't have a lot going for it.
The song Black Spiderman is meant to point out Logic’s view on equity as he said to rap genius “This is a really good one cause I rap from so many perspectives especially in this song so this is kind of all of us.” As the very lyrics is to not point out one person but to bring everyone together as human beings, as the song goes on rap genius even points out “Throughout his entire career, Logic has been spreading a message of doing what puts you first and helping others when you can. He wants his fans to succeed at whatever it is they’re passionate about.” which is part of his peace, love, and positivity and even goes as far at the end of the song about letting your soul glow, to radiate a sense of true self not by race or sex or group but individuality and this song even promoted more mix racial variations of books, movies, and even Seinfeld which was intended as a joke in a rather serious song about equality.
The song Take it back is basically states Logic’s idea about prejudice ideas such as white privilege but using lines like “Everybody wanna tell me what I am, what I am not", in which logic talks about how he can't fit in either category which in turn makes people question racial identification and made people wonder about its importance of it, this wasn't the last or first of verses talking about his biracial heritage it can be found in nearly all of his music.
Logic also talks about how he has the power to tell a story or message through his music which is as he says in the song is “The gift of gab”. In that sense he even inspired other songwriters even Ice cube to write songs about racial prejudice but from a more educated and concrete perspective, Logic has even said in his song, everybody “I have the blood of the slave and the master’’ that shows he understands both perspectives.
Finally, the suicide hotline is basically a song about some over a call beckoning for death to come and for his life to be over while someone over the phone is trying to calm the person down trying to give them a reason to live but, the song has more substance than that when you watch the music video for this song. The music video with this song depicts 2 gay guys (both being different races) not only being in a relationship but also being caught and bullied for it, the black kid even has problems with his father the only parent he has being homophobic. Mix the music video alongside the message of the song it has more impact than most of his other songs do to the two-faced message that multiple people can relate to no matter what. “This song alone even raised suicide calls up by 20%” ever since the release of the song said by logic during an interview with rap genius which for those of you who don't know that's worldwide perspective, not just America.
So overall Logic is not only living breathing proof of how music can influence people but also influence fellow creators to promote positivity with well constructed and logical perspectives, he has another album coming out called young santra which is probably going to be as good as his other albums and maybe just as inspiring.
