The Power of History: a Pure Knowledge in Our Hands

History is what gives value to anything. Why? In the essay about history I will give an answer. When we talk about history we do not refer to the past but to our interaction with it. History changes depending on the perspective. Like the cathedral is a the heart of Paris, as it is located in the centre of the city, this is why people might have donated so much money, because of the history and its importance. 

History studies are the past of human beings. Not all the past is known and studied; people have selected facts that, for some reasons, are considered important and deserving of being known as historical facts. Researchers have organized and established this knowledge in chronological order, in order to order them. It is important to remember those events that have shaped the current world, the values and ideas that have been devised in the development of humanity. History is a story told over time. As I just said it is a way of recreating the past so it can be studied in the present and re-played for future generations. Since humans are the successors of history, it is important for everyone to know what the purpose of history is and how historians include their own perspective concerning historical events. The purpose and perspective of history are essential in order for individuals to realize how it would be almost impossible for us to live out our lives effectively if we had no knowledge of the past. Also, in order to gain a sound knowledge of the past, we have to understand the political, social and cultural aspects of the times we are studying. 

So, we could say that history is really powerful in different ways. History is a strong tool for building nationalism. We might consider here, any situation in which a nation comes together for a specific cause or in reaction to a significant event. For example, the Battle of New Orleans in which Americans United at the conclusion of the American Revolution. History is in charge of our memory, also tells us about the human race. Every story and event from the past tells us about who we are as a race and what we are able to do. History represents our way of being and thinking, can also help us to realize how we have changed during the pasts years, how we had evolved. History is also able to predict the future. 

And finally, it highlights what has never been tried before. It is not easy, but if we don't try and risk ourselves to do different things, the past will find us and show us how little we've changed.
