The Problems With Abortion: Opposing View Points
Only God has the choice of whether or not to let a baby be born into the world. On January 22, 1973, abortion became legal. Since 1973, more than 54 million abortions have been preformed ¨legally” in the United States. Legallizing killing of the unborn reduces the peoples respect for life.
Abortions are sought to be an excuse to not have to go through the work of being a parent. Theyŕe either ¨not ready¨, or because theyŕe a parent already focusing on the kids they have now. Society nowadays believe that anything should be right as long as they are happy. Journalest G. Cunningham states, ¨“Abortion is and will be trivialized as the ¨lesser of two evils¨, or even perhaps ¨a necessary evil¨ (Williams). According to planned parenthood, abortions are used as a necessary outlet of not taking responsibilty for the baby, but focusing on the woman only. They believe if you have enough stress now then you are incompetent to become a mother and should abort until you are stable. What these ¨Pro-Choice” activists dont realise is that it takes a huge toll on the womens mental and physical health.
Many abortion advocates believe abortion is deemed as necessary for a womens well-being when in reality is hurts the women who choose to have one. There are many physical risks of abortions; infections, cancer, cervical incompetence, and even death. On the Planned parenthood website it describes how having an abortion is not painful but is actually relaxing. Abortions are the 5th leading cause of maternial death in the United States. According to the British Medical Journal, ¨Women who have an abortion are 3 times more likely to commit suicide. ¨ ABortions also cause the mothers to turn to drug and alcohol abuse for years. But its not just young women who grieve this way, its also the elderly aswell. In the book , Abortions, it states ¨Many counselors encounter elderly women overcome with grief over an abortion decades before¨ (Szumski).
There are many arguments from both pro-choice and pro-life about abortions. Many start with; what if the mother was raped? Why are so many people opposed to abortions if it can help the mother and its legal? As Pro-choice artical states, ¨a child conceived through rape or incest does not deserve the death penalty for her father’s crime¨. Aswell as Just because something is legal does not mean its right. In early America, slavery was once deemed legal, even if it wasnt morally correct.
How can abortions not be morally correct? If they focus on the mothers well-being solely, than it shouldn´t be wrong, right? Well if the focused on the women, they would defund the abortion industry and reroute it to protect womens health and uphold life. Why should we defund abortions now when its safer than its been before? If you look back before the year 1973, there were less abortions then there are now, because it is made legal now. Abortions are encouraged because they claim its ¨safe¨ and ¨legal¨. When the legislation passed Roe Vs Wade, they never expected to have it to end up to over 54 million abortions since.
Before abortions were made legal, it was nearly impossible to have and abortion. It was very difficult to confirm pregnancys before the mothers showed. Abortions ruined marriage prospects and were extremely dangerous. All with physical, social, theological and scientific ways of abortions being unacceptable.
In the case Roe vs Wade, Norma Mccorvey is the ¨Jane Roe¨ in the case. She now regrets going through with making abortions being legal, she admitted she lied about being raped for her case to go through. In her later years, she told her truth in many interviews and she moved to preserving life not taking it. McCorvey stated she never ended up having an abortion. Before McCorvey died at the age of 69, she found God and vowed to overturn the law.
From a faith based aspect, in the bible, God clearely states life started before the baby is born and even all way before being concieved. In Jerimiah 1:5, God says,¨before i formed you in the womb i knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. ¨ If you want a more scientifical point of view, according to the law of Biogenisis, ¨a fetus concieved by the human parents, and growing, according to its own genetic code, is defenition of a human being¨.
The starting of planned parenthood came from Margeret Sanger, in 1916 she opened the first birth control clinic. The main goal for Sanger opening the clinic was to ¨weed out the unfits, and getting rid of defectives¨, in her own words. Planned parenthood never had good intentions to start with. Many survivors from this hanouse crime can counter that this orginization never had the best intentions for them or their mothers.
In 2019, the bill ¨infantcide¨ was passed. This bill allows babies to be killed up to any point of the pregnancy until the baby is out of its mothers womb. This bill being passed shows you how far our country is failing us in moral decay. At what point is it okay to kill a baby, let alone one days from being born. Why do they pass a bill to kill a helpless baby and think that is okay but think murding any older being is worse? Where is the line that they draw to show what life is valuable and what life isn´t?
If you look at why people want to abort, its mainly because the baby is to much work. They need assitance with life until they grow stronger and more independent and most people do not want to wait until that day comes. But what about the elderly? They need assistance with everything, and chances are they won´t get back to being strong and independent. Now its the babies, in the future it could very well be our elderly. So again, who chooses what life has more meaning? Who gets that power, only God can decide.
Thankfully there are many people sharing their life stories on their regrets of having an abortion. Telling this lost generation why their selfish ways will get them nowhere. It´s not just the stories of mothers stopping from having an abortion like Nora McCorvey, it´s also the babies who survived. Gianna Jessen, was a survivor of a failed abortion. Her mother was 7 months pregnant when she decided to go through with an abortion. When her mother had her saline treatment, ( which is salt concotion designed to burn the baby inside and out), 18 hours after ,she delievered her baby alive, a thankfully failed abortion. Now, Jessen is a pro-life speaker and goes to confrences sharing her story about why all babies lives are important.
The statistics on abortions are disgusting. On average, more than 2,500 human beings are killed by abortions each day in the Untied states. Seventy-eight percent are surgically dismebered, twenty-two percent are medically starved. Abortion is the act of violence that kills an innocent human being. Most of these victims way less than one ounce. Abortion kills the smallest and weakest members of the human community.
If you look at Fetal homicide laws, it counteracts the laws of abortion. The law of fetal homicide states, ¨If a pregnant woman on her way to an abortion clinic is assulted in the street, causing the death of her unborn child, those who assulted her would be guilty of manslaughter. ¨ If the mother doesnt want the child, it isn´t a person. The child is the same in both circumstances its just different because its only the feelings of the mother changed. There is a major issue with placeing ones life over anothers.
It is unjust and unaccurate to classify certain human beings as ¨non-persons¨. By definition humanity and personhood go together hand in hand. Babies develope personal nature and even demonstrate personality in the womb. Embryos ande fetuses are fully developed from conception. Something if by nature has the capacitty to develop the ability to think rationally, express emotion, and make decisios is a person. It is impossible for a fetus to not be classified as a human.
Abortion is condemnable for the same reasons as slavery and the holocaust. Around the world, many orginization abortion centers are eliminating ¨unwanted¨ babies at an alarming rate. These crimes cant be thought out and rationalized individually, its a systemmatic cooperation. Crimes against the human race are always built on the thinking that certain humans do not deserve protection under the law. Just like the Holocaust where six million Jews were killed, except abortions have surpassed that rate alarmingly. This is what you call mass genocide.
So when will the change be made to make abortions illegal again? As you can see it does nothing but kill. There is no way to make the killing of the unborn morally correct. There is no way to take back what has been done. What we can do is end it now. Only God can choose what happens with life and death, so why do we think we have that power?
