The Reasons Of Google Glass Failure

Google Glass created quite a stir when it was first introduced in the market. It was a striking attempt to bring the world above and beyond into the information age. It was a very hyped product before its release, but many factors resulted in its failure. Safety and health concerns were also among those factors. There were health concerns before the Google Glass was even released. Questions regarding its safety for everyday use were also raised. Devices like Samsung and iPhone mobiles do emit radiation which is harmful, but they do not have close contact with the skin but a gadget which emits carcinogenic radiation constantly and wearing it so close to the head was a concern. Not only this but the Google Glass having an in-built camera also raised privacy concerns as it could be recording videos and taking photos any time of the day and so the person you sit next to on the bus or someone sitting at the next table could be filming you or taking your picture.

There was also a possibility of illegally filming movies in the cinema and due to this reason, it was prohibited in most of the cinemas. It was also prohibited in other places where surreptitious recording is not appreciated like in the casinos. The idea was not that bad, but it could land in the wrong hands and at the wrong situation. Google Glass not being attractive and somewhat awkward looking also led to its failure. Also, the gadget looking unnatural, wearing it in a crowded place or in a dark alley would be risky keeping in view its price. The low battery life of the product and unappealing design also led to its factors. Two years after the Google Glass was released, it got very little progress and led to confusion of whether it was just a prototype of the product or an actual finished one. There were different bold attempts to advertise the product but nothing revolutionary or practical was brought to the table. The situation was made even worse when the product would stop working during firmware update. Apart from the occasional jumpiness, the sluggishness of the menu and the apps would make it fell like the product was in progress. The way to making a revolutionary item is to discover the demand or an issue that your item is attempting to solve. Determining your target market, planning your strategy to advertise the product and calling it a success follow it. This basic business principle was overlooked during the making of Google Glass. Google Glass had two main functions: to capture images quickly and have useful information from the web in hand. However, these functions do not have practical uses in our daily life. The consumers had no clear benefit offered by the product. Google Glass could not succeed due to its marketing strategy and as the consumers could not figure out why they needed this product in their lives.
