The Revolution Of Music By Ray Charles And Elvis Presley

The revolution of music has come such a long way. Come to think of it; artists did make an impact in the music industry. When we look back to the past of how much music has changed, we find two artists who turned the music industry on its head. Now I know what you may be thinking which artists made such a big commotion, well let me tell you it was no other than Elvis Presley and Ray Charles. Both of these artists took the music industry and made it theirs. They both caused commotion since these artists made music into something new and unusual. They both created the revolution in the 1900s. Their music was somewhat not accepted by some people for being inappropriate. Although these artists fall into different genres, they changed the music industry forever. Elvis Presley created a revolution in Rock n Roll while Ray Charles created one in R&B around the same time. They were both loved and hated by the public, were most loved by their younger audience, and despised by older audiences.

Elvis Presley and Ray Charles were both born in the 1930s. They came from very humble beginnings. They both had very little money but experienced very different lifestyles. Elvis Presley was raised by both of his parents and moved a lot due to the lack of cash. He loved his parents and was in a home with a strong faith in God. Compared to Ray Charles, who was only raised by his mother until he was 7 years old and lost his sight. His mom sent him to Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind in St. Augustine, Florida. Both found their passion for music in very different forms. Elvis Presley encountered his passion for music in an Assembly of God Church he went to with his parents, where gospel music influenced him. Elvis's mom also gave him his first guitar when he was 11 years old. While Ray Charles found his passion for music while in school, where he learned to arrange music in Braille and play various instruments, his influence of music was gospel, country, and blues. Both of these artists started as ordinary persons with very humble beginnings.

Their music revolution started in very different ways. After Elvis Presley graduated from high school, he worked many jobs while trying to pursue his music career. Meanwhile, Ray Charles's mom had passed away when he was 16. He decided to move to Seattle, where he met a friend who helped him with his music career. They both made their first release, Ray Charles's first release was in 1949 while Elvis Presley's first release was in 1954. It wasn't until 1955 when Elvis Presley started getting a fan base for his new sound of rock and roll and got his #1 hit. Elvis signed contracts for movies and had many appearances on tv shows. Ray had his #1 hit on the R&B charts. By the late 1950s, Ray was already revolutionizing jazz as a whole. However, they both went through difficulties in their careers. Elvis got drafted into the army. After he received news that his mother had passed away as well. Ray went into a clinic to avoid jail time for possession of drugs. Although these artists went through rough moments, their success did not end there.

These stars continued their success. Ray Charles won a Grammy award, released his autobiography, appeared in a comedy, and was in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. Elvis Presley continued music and appearing in films creating hits. He won Grammys and was also in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Country Music Hall of fame, and Gospel Music Association Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, these stars came to an end. Elvis Presley passed away in 1977 due to heart failure, Ray in 2004 passed away due to liver diseases. However, until this day, these stars have left a mark on the world of the music industry.
