The Role Of Religion In Society
The importance of religion to me and to any other individual, society, and national varies tremendously from being a positive and negative to those who believe or dis belief, but there are very few reasons why it remains important overall. People often crave a better understanding of the world, seeking satisfaction to their needs and wants. Humans don’t understand the complex in how the world works or why things happen, but Religion gives them exactly what they’re looking for or want to hear. For example it gives us the comfort to our questions, concerns and most importantly towards our feelings giving us a purpose to give life a greater meaning. Religion can break us but it can also bind together societies and nations in becoming a stronger nation or as individual in the way we carry our faith. Although religion has also driven conflict among people and countries due to our fears and misunderstandings it has proven to bring us back together as a whole. Religion’s current role in society is always changing, from being alive and implemented in our lives to those who have let religion die. For some, it’s still a great guide and relief, for others it's seen as a source of misinformation contradicting science.
I grew up being a Catholic and recently transitioned to Christianity. My mother raised me and my four other siblings to one faith only in the Mexican cultural Catholicism and educated us to follow their beliefs and traditions. From being Baptized for the necessary of salvation, to Gods Ten commandments in having ethical standards to live by, to pray to our God, Jesus, the Virgin Mary, holy spirts, believing is saints, doing our first communion, confirmation and finally to finding the right person the right one and uniting ourselves to a holy marriage. Catholics have always had a high standard of living life a certain way or else you will be critiqued among others and defined as the individual who’s walking down the wrong path. Growing up as catholic and always being in a catholic church never did I find the connection I found in my transition in Christianity. I’ve learned to understand the calling of god in my own way in what it means to me personally; from not judging others, to living freely and simply embracing my faith without fear of not being accepted. Religion does exactly just that, it builds in you into that person you need to become in this life, prepares you with the knowledge and understanding to come to in acceptance of why things happen the way they do even if we don’t know the exact reason of why. God has been and is the central element of religion; there has been so much history that nothing exactly can define religion. Many although do exercise the bible, traditions and morals that each religion brings to their covenant. Religion becomes the cause of in emotional element rather its internal, external, individualism, and socialism. A feeling where people find comfort towards positivity or a mixture of negative emotions. People who are religious and follow one god only do tend to have a concern in how they develop their relationship with god in how they embrace it more freely through freedom of worship, mediation and fasting. Others who don’t believe in religion or don’t have a god or believe in the spiritual world such as Buddhism and Wicca are more concerned in the exercise of their activities towards there expression of feelings, self-healing, balancing chakras, mother nature and making a choice of a healthier life style. We all seek making peace with our burdens but in different ways. We all have a religion as individual that takes mater in our lives that teaches us from right and wrong, but this is where Religious freedom plays a big role in our society and brings the concern to many of our religious people to even the nonbelievers. It evolves into a strong interest because of our religious freedom and the necessary for us to find peace and stability in our cultural diversity world.
The protection of conscience is a vital ingredient for stability because it helps people from a wide spectrum of beliefs feel assured that their deepest concerns and values are respected and protected. In the United States they felt it was very important for our civilians to have that freedom of choice that they established the first amendment “For the rights and protection of all flesh” guaranteeing free exercise of religion and free speech and press. Without these great fundamentals of the Constitution the people wouldn’t have the freedom of worship to the different religions we see now in our nation. It also cannot be denied that religion has external for social control. It creates the values in which it molds life in giving social integration to enforce the behavior and strength solidarity to stabilize social order laws.
There are so many immoral acts against religion now in days that many have suffered using it in their own interest. It has increased outrageously that above all the conflicts that have remained people have the attempt to change. As a citizen I believe that respecting each other’s religions and morals of life should give our community’s the confidence to grow in a healthy nation. Religion brings out prosperity and hope to those that have gone through rough patches in their life’s and seek the strength of moving forward. It Brings out the humanity in others in wanting to save the world by stopping the way we judge others in their religious beliefs, the way we view and take decisions in what we buy or interact with others. God created us equally and planted in our heart our own desires that make us unique. Only if we truly accepted that instead of questioning everyone we wouldn’t be living in a world where immigration has become a crime, where freedom no longer has a meaning and many of us are hiding our identities do not being accepted in society and most importantly where our nation is longer safe. May God be with us in every step of the way and bring peace to our country.
