Have you ever read a story/book or watched a movie that is scary and someone/something changed or transformed into something else? Annabelle, “The Fall of the House of Usher”, any of Edgar Allan Poe’s stories they all have a transformation in them. Famous rapper Hopsin says that one reason we don’t like change is we get comfortable where we are, we get used to our friends and the place we live and even if it’s not perfect, it’s familiar. Transformation becomes scary when the known becomes the unknown or the unfamiliar; when someone becomes a monster or gets possessed by a spirit and when something happens to someone else and they become scary. Have you ever seen a movie where there’s a ghost or a spirit and it teleports or becomes unseen by the naked eye? Such as “The Conjuring” by James Wan the spirit that possesses the mom and kids is unknown and its unknown why the spirit is so aggressive. You don’t know when the anger is going to start or when it’s going to end. You never know when or who it’s going to possess next and that’s scary and with it being based on a true story you don’t know if watching the movie the spirit could possess you too. This is a really good example of transformation being scary to us but so is when the sister gets locked away in the basement of the Usher House. Roderick Usher in “The Fall of the House of Usher” has a sister and she has a disease that makes it to where she could die at anytime while sleeping and so when she goes to bed one night the narrator and Roderick take her to the basement/dungeon and they lock her up in a sealed coffin and buried here and locked the cell door and went on about their business. Towards the end of the story Roderick goes crazy and starts screaming “Madman!” and that she’s at the door well right as the narrator grabbed the door handle, she burst in and pounced on her brother Roderick and her got so scared him and his sister both died right there. Roderick was so scared of the fact the she was basically skin and bones and she hadn't eaten anything for a long time that when she jumped on him it gave him a heart attack and she died of starvation and thirst and the fact that she had no health to begin with. This example of transformation is that she changed over time because of the lack of food and water she was so scary looking it scared her brother into a heart attack and killed him and her. My little sister the other day was watching that show Face Off on the Syfy cable network and she change from a random person to a monster or character that the artists decide to make their stranger turn into, freaked my sister out and she went to her room. Now to me it was amazing to see someone doing something like that and it be like it was from a movie but tomy sister she didn’t like the transformation from the human to a fake monster that looked real. Transformation is a scary thing but it’s also a something that could be pretty cool within time so it depends of your mind set.
