What I Learned about Myself: My Personal Message
“My life is my message” is a quote by Mahatma Gandhi. This quote can mean anything to anyone but to me it means everything. Every single moment, thought, image, and feeling I have created is my message. Everything I helped, complimented, joked about, and smiled about is my message. Everything I touched, broken, hurt, and forgotten is my message. I am not perfect but I am trying to be the best person I can be. I try being kind to everyone so they do not have to suffer. I try being loyal to my friends and not letting them go. I try to forgive myself or others more to keep my head clear of mistakes. As I grow up, I would like to keep these traits with me; kindness, loyalty, and forgiveness. This is what have you learned in this subject essay where I will show personal reflection of the quote.
A habit I find important is being kind. I can be kind naturally, but sometimes I have to hold myself back from saying rude words. I always found kindness to be an easy way of sharing your appreciation. A way to bring each other up instead of throw each other down. Everyone has their reasons, their problems. I stay kind to make sure they can worry less, stress is a very dreadful feeling to have. Sometimes just having a smile on your face can make someone’s day. Telling a simple compliment or hearing them out. Just talking to someone can make them feel better, they do not always need an answer or a solution, just a friend who can listen. If I were writing what did you learn this semester essay I would say that during last semester I've learned the importance of being kind.
Moreover, another trait I cherish is loyalty. A few years ago, I read a series about a man who was part wolf. He was known to be loyal, he stayed true to himself and everyone he met. Ever since then, I always tried to connect my life with loyalty. But there was always this doubt in me, that I am not loyal. I am not as loyal as I imagined myself to be. I relate loyalty to honesty a lot which would make sense why I have these doubts about being loyal but when I look around. I see my friends by my side, my family around the dinner table, my pets playing around. I haven’t left them. I do not wish to ever leave them but one day they will leave. That part, I cannot change, it is only a part of life. I hope with what I achieve with this trait is to have long-lasting relationships even if life has other plans.
Lastly, there is forgiveness. Depending on the circumstance, I could easily forgive anyone or anything. I find forgiving others and ourselves crucial because if we never forgive the mishaps in our life, we will never grow. We will just be stuck on the puny details when we could have forgiven others or ourselves. The hardest part of forgiving is forgiving myself. I get filled with guilt and boredom. Especially when I hold it in and let time pass by. I know it is not healthy, and I have to relearn it when I go through this mess. When I learn it again, it becomes easier to forgive myself or the situation. A goal I have for myself is to stay more in the present instead of having my mind stuck in the past.
To conclude what have you learned about yourself essay, I have learned about myself is that I am like no other. I will not experience what others have gone through, how they felt, or what thoughts and tendencies they had. Since we are all different, each one of us spread unique messages. For me, I intend to spread my message through characters. Characters for a story, for a drawing or just for fun. These traits mean a lot to me, they benefit my life in many ways. They keep me clearheaded and rational, away from the sorrow. I will continue helping others, keeping others, and forgiving others till the day I perish.
