What We Can Learn From Harry Potter
Many books allow readers to learn from the actions of characters, one particular book is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. In this text, the experiences and encounters of the protagonist Harry Potter will be analyzed and what we readers can learn from his experience and personal traits.
I struggled to stay put as the Whomping Willow effortlessly tries to whip Hermione and I. Moments ago, my friend Ron was cruelly taken by a dangerous jet-black dog into the Willow. The Willow was a ferocious and violent magical tree, it was known to attack anyone and anything that comes within range of its branches. The last I saw of Ron, was a crack that cut the air; Ron's leg was broken and each second he was being dragged deeper into the tree until his foot had disappeared from sight. Malicious and uncertain thoughts entered the mind, what was the reason for the enormous jet black dog to bound at us and kidnapping Ron?
Months ago, Arthur Weasley, the father of Ron, warned me of Sirius Black. A notorious murderer who blew up an entire street killing twelve Muggles and his friend Peter Pettigrew. Sirius had escaped from the most secure magical prison, Azkaban, and many say his after me. It suddenly occurred to me of the deadly situation occurring, I could run, leave my injured friend and get help but no, there was no time. Hermione's cat, Crookshanks, suddenly darts forward, placing his paws on a knot on the Willow. The tree looked as if it had been petrified. Hermione has a look of uncertainty on Crookshanks, however, I have previously seen him together with the dog, possibly friends. Crookshanks sleekly slides into the trunk, I went next and soon Hermione after...We come to a very low tunnel, Hermione's cat was far ahead, we both follow. Hermione asks me where this tunnel comes out to, even with the Marauders Map, A magical map that reveals all of Hogwarts. Not only does it show every classroom, hallway and corner, it also shows the secret passages that are hidden within its walls and the location of every person in the grounds, despite this I was clueless. Soon the tunnel ascended, it soon twisted and the cat had gone. I could now observe a dab of diminished light through a little opening. As Hermione and I moved forward, we saw a room. A very old and dusty room, the room itself was beginning to fall apart. Hermione then whispers to me the words I never wanted to here, 'Harry, I think we're in the Shrieking Shack. I look around and my eyes fall onto a wooden chair, large chunks had been torn out of it. I heard a creak above us, so we walk away from the hallway and up the staircase. Now, we have reached the dark landing. At the end of it, there was a door open. I hear movement and a low moan from behind. Holding my wand tightly, I kick the door open and come to the vision of a mass of filthy, matted hair hung to his elbows. If eyes hadn't been shining out of the deep, dark sockets, he might have been a corpse. The waxy skin was stretched so tightly over the bones of his face, it looked like a skull. His yellow teeth were showing a grin. It was Sirius Black.
In this scene, us readers come to see the character Harry placed in a difficult situation. His injured friend Ron is taken and he has two choices. Leave his friend, get help or risk his life and help him despite the many warnings of a known murderer who was said to be on the prowl of him. What we can learn from this is the transcendental power of friendship in helping overcome fear and harnessing bravery amidst the most challenging or confronting situations.
