William Faulkner And The Modernism Style
As a beginner some may had have it easy, tough, or maybe no clue that they’ll one day become a successful writer. In Faulkner’s life, writing and reading through the family, his mom and dad read lots of books. As in for Faulkner he was raised in Oxford, Mississippi such as the south, which is where most of his life career had started for him ( ). Before William Faulkner became known for his literary writing, he was in the Canadian and British royal air force, a soldier, and later at last he became a writer after working in a bookstore ( ). Since Faulkner grew up in the south, he at the time went through all the trauma that people faced, he as well wrote stories about the events that occurred in one’s life. Never did he imagine his work would become big and sadly great things come to and end. Faulkner passed away due to a heart attack on July 6, 1962 Byhalia, Mississippi.
As years went by, things in that period were still rough as it was. Faulkner based off his composing’s as modernism and everything was based off the true and upsetting trauma events that occurred in life. Not everyone had it easy back then, as said he based off everything with true events. As things got harder William wrote what one would go through in a daily life crisis so as the reader can acknowledge what the narrator felt, went through, and how one’s family struggled through. Which is why Faulkner led on to having his writings as modernism. One of the most known he wrote was named ‘’ A Rose to Emily ‘’. As it happens after reading on more, one will be able to see more specific what the story was all about and how it impacted one back in life when a novelists writing was once a lot more judgmental than today.
The novel becomes more and more intense as one read’s through it. The novel ‘’ A Rose to Emily ‘’ is about a girl who is obviously named Emily that lives in a house with her father. Her mom had passed away while she was at an early young age, which just ultimately left her and her father living on the own. As time went by things became to have change since her mother was never around now, it had to be something her and her dad needed to adapt to. Emily tried to have a sparkling life and her dad at some point became bitter not having his wife around. As every person Emily did try to move on from what hurt her, but her dad changed his ways with her too, he became strict throughout the time something she as well tried to see as normal. Unhappiness grew within her; her father became a lot stricter since her dad lost his love of his life, he made it almost impossible for Emily to find herself a true love.
Emily became a stay at home child, which caused her life to go to white into sorrow black. The reason to why her dad becoming strict on her was because of so much chaos was going in, in that period time. All the father wanted for Emily was to protect her from danger, but as a girl Emily had a hard time understanding where her dad was coming from. Everything Emily tried to adapt to she realized that she couldn’t face change because change was what she feared the most in her life. With time passing on her father passed away too, again change was hard for her to face she refused to believe that she was a lone and lost. At last when she passed away it was discovered that her father’s remains were never gone but if not they were yet at his own house, the reason to this was because she felt lonely she liked to believe that regardless how much her dad made her life she needed him the most and could not accept the change in her life.
The literary element that ‘’ A Rose to Emily “fell into was fallen to a modernism style. The reason to why it was fallen into this category was due to the issues occurring at the time of her life story. The meaning of modernism describes a deep-thinking type of literary movement that talked about the world and cultural changes, it as well involved things that would happen in regular bases such as reality. This type of literature work was often used a lot during the world war times, during the 19th and 20th century. What inspired him to become a modernist writer was due to all the issues going on in his personal life and the life changing events in the world happening. He embraced and expressed his feelings along with thoughts with his novels. The novel fit in perfectly with modernism, because of the time in being that the book was being created in. Many people did not understand the reason to why it was used but it all made sense. The reason why the book ‘’ A Rose to Emily ‘’ fit in fine with that movement was because of the life changing event going on with Emily, as much as it was hard for her to accept change, she wanted it to stay traditionally all the same regardless of the circumstances herself and her father faced.
