Life-Changing Events That Alter Personal Perceptions

The progression of human life is directly impacted by certain events that can change one’s perspective on life. As described by Plato, “Character is simply habit long continued,” implying that life-changing character, or perceptions, are the climax of their life events. Moreover, the constituents of one’s perceptions can be monitored by their exposure to these life-changing events. Events such as a significant physical injury, a familial tragedy, or a sudden change in financial status can drastically alter one’s perceptions of life. A significant physical injury can alter a person’s mental perceptions of danger and physical activity for the rest of their lives. Perhaps a physical trauma would force one to acknowledge their everyday interactions. Furthermore, it would cause caution in any future physical activities.

As a result their mental and physical state may be damaged. While both physical injuries and mental tragedies have an impact on one’s emotional state, the loss of life of a close one would change one’s perception of life to a much greater extent. A tragedy in one’s close social web can provoke a change in perception regarding their viewpoints on life. After the loss of a loved one, one may feel come to terms with the fragility and gift that is mother nature. Society only learns how to cope with grief by grieving themselves. Moreover, One does not know what he has till they have lost it. But, the loss of financial stability could be one of the greatest direct impact to one state livelihood Particularly in modern times, a sudden change in one’s financial status can spell out disaster depending on that change. The loss in financial security may force the reevaluation of their spending habits and lifestyle. Everything may seem to be “more expensive” for someone who has recently acquired an unstable or insecure income, and an effort of frugality may persist. Additionally, the loss of a job will inevitably hinder one’s ability to acquire the wants they so previously desired.

Impressions of life can be easily altered by certain events, such as a serious ailment, a sudden death in one’s immediate family, or the introduction of instability in one’s financial position. Generally, these events are a drastic shifts from a relatively stable and predictable status quo. As well, changing someone’s physical, emotional, or financial status quo will nearly always elicit an immediate reactions that tend to attempt its revival to previous standards. Certain events, whether physical, emotional, or financial, can change one’s impressions on life in such a way that those impressions are now aimed toward recovering the previous existing conditions of life.
