Computer Engineering – The Greatest Career For Me
I find engineering intriguing since I strongly believe it can present my commitment, challenging and brainstorming skills. I have potential and skills to manage time and complete assigned tasks with diligence. I have built my personal computer from scratch, and fixed electrical objects that malfunctioned. I can easily adapt to new situations, take on a range of problems and get the job done right. I find that engineering is one of the greatest careers that an individual can have as there is no limit for creativity and accomplishing phenomenal inventive techniques to make a difference in other people’s lives.
Scientists dream about doing great things, yet engineers creates them. There is no greater reward than contributing back to the society. I am currently studying A-level Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Arabic. Mathematics is a language of the physical science and engineering. I enjoy solving mathematical problems because it develops my intellectual maturity, and it taught me that there is more than one way to tackle a problem and practice makes perfect. Mathematics is useful in everyday life; it aids us in managing money, figuring out distance, time and cost for travel to variety of places. Studying the fundamental principles of the universe has directed me to think critically and ask questions to enhance my understanding of the different topics in physics. Newton’s Laws of motion tie into almost everything we see in our daily basis. It tells us how things move or if it is at rest and control how vehicle works and how buildings don’t fall down and how everything around us is moving. Applying these laws in real life situations is essential to predict how things would work before they were built.
To ensure that I get the most of my work experience, I have worked with RPS Group for a week. They are a multinational energy resources and environmental consultancy company. During this period, I have been taught that safety is the most important thing. On the site, I have to wear the steel-toe boot to protect my foot from heavy, falling objects. I have been given many architectural plans to work on using AutoCAD and been supervised by an engineer. The architectural plan contained drawings of streets and houses with a front garden. A (Adoptable Kerbing Key) is been given. I had to put a different layout of kerbing to streets, gardens, tactile paving and sewages in different colours and shapes. I also had to plot coordinates to find where the houses are going to be constructed. Using AutoCAD, I learned that different engineers use it in a way that would be more easier to use for themselves. Some of them prefer to type a command and others prefer to use what is in front of them. Luckily, I had the chance to learn different methods from this experience. In my opinion, using commands is better than the program itself as it is quite faster.
Outside my academic study, I am interested in travel and sports. I have learnt to set a timetable for myself to increase my productivity during the academic year. I believe that I have the personal attributes and the academic ability to successfully study mechanical engineering and complete the professional training to become a qualified engineer.
