The Greatness of Nature: How to Describe a Thunderstorm

In this paper "Describe a Thunderstorm Essay" we talk about such majestic, somewhat scary, but exciting weather as a thunderstorm. Twilight started to gently fade away as the warm amber sun awakened and slowly emerged from the distant horizon. The hue of the giant fluorescent orb ignited the dim sky and splashed the glittering, silvery clouds with multiple different shades of orange as it hung low from the heavens like a golden medallion. The sun’s iridescent rays projected huge columns of light over the cityscape and brilliantly illuminated every crevice and object it came into contact.

There was a light breeze which gently rustled the leaves, and the morning shadows casted picturesque shapes of buildings and trees onto the ground whilst harmonious melodies were sung by the feathered creatures, creating a grand and uplifting symphony of melodies and signalling the new day. The fresh air was pristine and the fragile morning dew leisurely evaporated from the grass and delicate leaves while the piercing, prominent sunlight mirrored from one building to the next, fabricating a dreamy and surreal kaleidoscope. Suddenly, beyond the distant horizon and without warning, dark and vengeful cloud formations started to imprint their marks on the crystal-clear blue sky, suggesting the imminent arrival of an intense and powerful thunderstorm. The strong gusts of wind were unleashed and started to impulse the dim and murky clouds closer and closer. The once beautiful golden sky was steadily engulfed by darkened and dense patches of clouds washing and draining away every bit of its persistent, brilliant colours. As the dull clouds approached, they created irregular openings in the nebulous sky, simulating a vast abstract painting with every imaginable colour. The air started to feel thick and heavy, as if it was trying to suffocate the whole city. Howling and screaming, came the barren wind which further blew the ash grey clouds, blocking the sun from view and covering the city with a blanket of darkness.

The usually busy streets were completely deserted, projecting chilling images of a ghost town. The mightiest of trees bended and moaned as branches were torn away like paper limbs as they plunged to the ground, creating devastating sounds of destruction. They were acting as if being tortured, their agony bared by the strong gale. A sudden bolt of lightning shattered the darkened and ominous sky in the utmost vicious manner. It was followed by deafening and earth-shattering rumbles of thunder which sent shockwaves to the surrounding areas pugnaciously. Then for a short moment, everything retreated into oblivion. They are patiently waiting for another round of prevailing attacks from the heavens. The relentless wind held its breath and intensity. Abruptly, several jagged streaks of pure light ripped open the leaden sky, sending a downpour of rain which fell like millions of miniature arrows being released from above, destroying everything in their paths. Bolts of giant lightning, devastating thunders and unpredictable rhythms of the merciless torrential rainfall unleashed the evil force which opened the black gate of hell. The wicked thunderstorm continuously exerted its intense attacks on the city and its inhabitants. The sky had opened, releasing continuous and heavy rain which flooded every city street creating a complex network of racing rivers, sweeping everything away with their excessive force and strong currents. The rock-like rain drops were pounding and hammering against the roofs of houses with a vigorous rhythm with rumbling thunders replicating the perpetual pounding sounds of a Japanese taiko drum concert. Water levels were slowly rising on the streets, threatening to stall the few motorcycles of desperate commuters covered and dressed in colourful ponchos.

Eventually, the sounds of anger from the gods above tapered off as they made peace. A few streaks of sun rays were able to pierce through the darkened sky that began to lighten. They filtered through the now almost-white, cumulus clouds. Droplets of water fell softly, pattering on the roofs and slowly sliding off the leaves and branches that survived the storm. The rivers of rainwater were slowly consumed by the gutters and sewers, becoming more and more shallow, allowing the pedestrians and drivers to go through it. The sun is now visible in the cerulean sky, its radiant rays reflecting off various colours from the puddles of water on the ground. The day continued as it was.
