How To Figure Out What Is Best For You During The Senior Year Of High School

Senior year is the hardest and most stressful year of anyone's high school experience. For some people you have to figure out your life within the matters of months. Filling out FAFSA, college applications, picking which college is right for you, should you go to a 4-year college right away or 2-year, looking into colleges in state or out of state, what about SAT and ACT will those help you? Oh what about scholarships you need to fill out, what about the military that is an option too, what do you want to major/minor in, what classes should you take for those majors, what colleges suit you for those majors, how are you gonna pay for college, where am you going to live? Like I said stressful.

These are all things that need to be brought into consideration while just thinking about college. Guess what though, we are not done. While these things are being figured out your still a highschool student. You have to keep up with your grades, with any clubs or organizations your apart of, mostly likely a job as well, make sure you sign up to take tests you need to, make time to write any college essays that are required for any applications. Very very stressful. So here are some tips that could help you figure out what is best for you

  1. Go to a college counselor at a local 4/2 year and talk to them about suggestions they might have.
  2. Also take into consideration your financial situation
  3. If you do not know exactly what to do maybe you should go to a junior college and take basics or even take a semester off.
  4. Look into trade schools if your good with your hands like plumbers, A/C repairman, electricians etc. and this could also give you time to be in the real world and if you would want to look into college again you could.
  5. Military is always an option (the military is not for everyone) it is not a 9-5 job, but it is a great way to commit to your country.
  6. If you know what your major is gonna be look into colleges that specialize in that field.
  7. If you are in sports or organizations are there any scholarships the you could look into.
  8. Fill out FAFSA also this could really help you.
  9. Be punctual and do not waste time. It is not easy or for everyone but just have some sort of plan. Also have a good support group around you.
  10. This is probably the most important one, getting help is on thing but do not let people get in your head. You know what is best for you, and if it takes you a month or 1 year to figure it out then that it’s okay too.
