Jusuf Nurkic – A Bosnian Professional Basketball Player

Jusuf Nurkic is a professional Basketball player who plays as a center player for Portland trail blazers in the national basketball association league and also plays for the Bosnian national team. Standing at a height of 7ft 0`` tall, he has racked up a good number of points and rebounds in the game at his position as a center player for Portland trail blazers, earning him the nickname “beast” or “Bosnian beast” and also not forgetting he was once nominated as FIBA Europe young player of the year award in 2014.

Nurkic was born in Tuzla the 3rd largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the 23rd of August 1994. Jusuf was discovered by Bosnian sports agent Ene Trnovcevic at the age of 14, he was given the opportunity to play for a Slovenian club Zlatorog Lasko which he accepted. Prior to Jusuf discovery at that age, he never played basketball and could hardly shoot a ball.

According to Ene Trnovcevic, he got to know Jusuf Nurkic through his Dad Hariz Nurkic, the young Nurkic got interested in the game and was assign a personal coach who taught him the basics of the game. From Zlatorog Lasko, he was loaned to union Olympia in order to participate in the Nike International Community tournament, he never failed to impress the international community in the tournament but had to perform better than expected, after the tournament he parted ways with his parents club Zlatorog Lasko, accusing his coach of not giving him enough playing time. He joined the Croatian club Cedevita in October 2012 playing somewhat of a smaller role in the team most especially been given limited playing time. In his quest to get more playing time, he was loaned to KK Zadar, a club in the Croatian league where he had a better game time compare to his former club.

Professional Career

Jusuf Nurkic professional career in the NBA began when he was among the amateurs that were hand pick by Chicago Bulls, a club in the NBA league. He was however later sold to Denver Nuggets, he never played a game for the Chicago Bulls, he made his debut for his new club recording a 5 points and 7 rebounds in his first game, he followed suit with his good performance by racking up a good number of points and rebound for Denver Nuggets where he lasted only 3 season (2014 – 2017). On February 13th 2017, Denver Nuggets traded Nurkic to Portland trail Blazers for Mason Plumlee with a cash price also attach to the trade exchange between the two team, two days later after the exchange he made his debut for the blazers, he racked up the best points and rebound ever in his career, becoming the first NBA player to racked up 28 points, 20 rebounds, 8 assist and 6 blocks in a single game which is an incredible height in achievement in his career.

The Bosnian beast as he’s also known as has a body weight of 280 pounds and a height of 7ft 0`` (2.11m) tall. For someone of his stature, he has this great moving agility with his powerful frame, great hands and superb mobility, it all serves up as a huge threat to every team opponent he encounters also with his leaping ability and quick feet, it is a whole lot of quality for a player of his sizes to possess.
