Life Story Example of Personal Beliefs
To start with, this is my life story example where I want share personal experience. To start my example of life story, I lost my father when I was 4 years old. For my optimum upbringing, my mother started her own business of selling female garment products. My mother and I used to go from home to home to sell her products. I used to notice that my mother was very protective in her behaviour and used to avoid unnecessary conflicts. I have always seen her extremely honest in her approaches and hence, in an incognizant way, I inherited some of the values like honesty, persistence, conflict avoidance, and hard work from my mother. Hence, after reflecting upon Nilendra Pawar sir’s lecture I got to know that most of my current values are based on my past life experiences. And I am now able to reflect with the reading of ethics that “Her decisions were not only simply a choice but an act of self-definition or self-creation.”
Unfortunately, I lost my mother when I was 11 years old and I had absolutely no clue what was happening to my world. The issue of my guardianship had become an issue at that time as there was nobody who was ready to bring up an orphan child and it became a matter of much confrontation between my maternal family and paternal family. Though in the initial days my younger uncle took my guardianship but soon I was a victim of discrimination as they had their family of their own. Hence, I had to fend off for myself at the age of 11.
Since a very young age, I have taken every decision of my life with little support from anywhere which made me an independent decision maker. And till now for my decisions, I have always been self-motivated and self-reliant. But eventually, I was lucky that my elder uncle took my guardianship and treated me like his own son. He inculcated a sense of humility in me and made me aware of my responsibilities towards the outer world for which I am very grateful to him. And today, when I'm writing story of my life example, I understand that when I looked back, I realize how important a family and a support system is to make a good career or even a living and now I can make a sense when Jagdish sir said, “What you become today and how you take decisions have a lot to do with the kind of nurturing environment in which you were brought up. And it will determine the kind of leader you will become tomorrow.”
To survive in this world I chose education as my way out and I chose education excellence as my survival tool because my mother used to tell me education will never betray me and it will provide me baseline skills - that is an important point in my life story example. And I have tried to do justice to my academics by being consistent first ranker and securing admission into the SPJIMR is also an example of my consistent effort. But throughout this course of my life, I have observed that I have always followed most ethical and honest ways of doing things. Though I had made many mistakes as there was a lack of psychological support but time and experiences proved to be the excellent indicators which helped me to learn from my initial poor decision-making skills and as I can relate it now when Jagdish sir said, “There is nothing as precious as doing mistakes because it gives you occasions to rethink and it exposes you to a new perspective to look at things where you can again try, fail and learn.”
Also, in life story essay I want mention that I have learned to give something back to society. During my under graduation I mentored 2 slum kids in their academic performance and when I started working I started donating half of my salary towards the unprivileged kids of the society. So till now this has been my course of life and I am able to find following values in me after all these sessions also, I got validation from ‘Values in Action(ViA) Survey’ suggested by Nilendra sir. I found following moral/ethical values in me:
In conclusion to story of my life sample, whether it is conflict avoidance or academic excellence or honest approaches, I believe all this is because of my past life experiences and I am still relying on my past life incidents to make future judgments because my in my past life I had seen extremely pitiful situations and here, I am trying that same kind of situation never happens in my life again. Hence, I firmly believe that this way the story of my life indeed has become my life. To summarise: “your good judgments/decisions come from your life long experiences and lifelong experiences come from poor judgments/decisions. The lessons lie the way in which we interpret our experiences.”
