My Experience And Passion In Enterprise

Everyone has a purpose in life and it is a matter of finding one’s true potential of expressing it. Throughout my life, I have immersed myself in learning about topics I am passionate about such as multiculturalism, entrepreneurship, and mental health with the goal of being able to have a positive impact in the community, while inspiring others along the way.

Canada is a culture rich community where we celebrate our differences and similarities. As the co-president of my school’s Roots Multicultural Club, our goal is to educate students and increase cultural awareness at A. N. Myer. Every year, we plan a multicultural pizza sale that allows students to experience flavours from around the world, while enjoying a food that most people like. Culture is something we should embrace and appreciate.

In the summer of 2017, I got the chance to take part in the Summer Company Program where I started my jewelry business, Dash & Dot. I have learned so much about entrepreneurship and was able to network with entrepreneurs from around the Niagara Region. I am a strong believer in giving back to the community which is why I had launched the Education Bracelet Collection this past July which features empowering words written in morse code using beads. I donate 20% of each bracelet to Camfed; a non-profit organization that supports girls’ education in Africa. I wanted to be able to provide the same opportunities I had for education to those who do not have access to it because sometimes all it takes to be successful is the chance to do so. Passion is what drives change and creativity in a community. A topic I have always been fascinated about is mental health as it is something everyone struggles with and it is important understand how to cope with difficult situations. As the co-chair for the Giving Back Subcommittee on the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee last year, I was able to lead the mental health project which included week-long activities during mental health week at each of the five local high schools in Niagara. The activities included dog visits from Therapy Tails, yoga sessions, and trivia. It is not a subject often discussed in our society, which is why I take the initiative of learning as much as I can about mental health with the goal of being able to be an advocate for the subject.

In conclusion, passion is what truly drives change and the ability to foster creativity and advocacy in a community. By discovering my passion for multiculturalism, entrepreneurship, and mental health, I was able to share this knowledge with others to find a common goal we could achieve. Enterprise is the process of learning and discovering yourself while helping others do the same.
