The Road to Entrepreneurship: My Experience, Strengths, and Weaknesses
Entrepreneurship is not an easy path to follow, and my journey began during my secondary school years. I wanted to be part of a group that would allow me to express my creativity and explore my love for making handicrafts, so I joined the Young Entrepreneur (YE) club. My experience with the club has taught me a lot about entrepreneurship, including the fact that it is not all about earning profits. As treasurer of the club, I learned that running a business or project requires innovativeness and a willingness to accept criticism and advice to improve products and customer satisfaction. Through my involvement with the YE club, I developed better communication skills that have allowed me to effectively communicate with customers and strangers. To dicsuss my entrepreneurship experience in this essay, I will be sharing more about my journey from the YE club to creating and selling products such as key chains, bags, and phone cases, and how seeking feedback has helped me improve my products over time.
I think my innovativeness is one of my strength in becoming an entrepreneur. According to Accenture stated that long-term success of their company is from innovation. Innovativeness will enable a person to come up with plenty of fresh ideas and make good decisions in solving individual business or marketing challenges. In addition, my strength in becoming an entrepreneur due to I am very well in managing my money. I have run YE club business successfully due to my ability to control cost of products and avoid wasteful expenditure. As we know that wasteful expenditure is an expenses in a business, it will affect the profits and bring the company into financial risk. Nevertheless, my strength to be entrepreneur is I am open minded person I learn from complaints and make some changes if necessary. For example, I will let unhappy customers give some feedback where to improve and learn from the mistakes.
On the other hand, my weakness in becoming entrepreneur is capability to take risks. There are many styles of risks are there that an entrepreneur has to deal with, such as, investment chance, political risk, environment dangers and etc. It is a challenge for me to handle varies of risks and respond to setback. The second weakness to be entrepreneur is leadership and communication challenges. According to Brian (2017), he states that good communication skills far by some of the most important characteristic for a leader. It is hard to express or share to other no matter how effective a plan that leader can draw up. This may cause little progress is going to be made if a leader with poor communicate.
Last but not least, I was born in a poor family which did not have large amount of capital is one of my weakness to becoming an entrepreneur. As I know to organise a business needs a huge amount of money as many entrepreneurs finance their businesses on their own dime, then caused them bankrupt. Hence, money, and funding matter to every kind of business.
