My Intent To Pursue A Career In Logistics: Critical Reasoning

The field of logistics is extensive and offers tremendous work opportunities for people all over the world. It does not receive much publicity and accolades like other, more popular careers such as medicine, finance, and engineering. However, it is significant and continues to grow since society cannot operate without planning, allocation, and distribution of resources. When I complete higher education, I would like to pursue a career in logistics and eventually become a fine addition to the sector. With the right opportunities, experience and exposure to industry standard projects and designs, I believe I can achieve this goal. It is one thing to complete education, and another to succeed in the workplace. Intellectual virtues help refine the qualities and character strengths of individuals. Inquisitiveness, open-mindedness and intellectual courage are virtues that will help me in the future. Inquisitiveness is an intellectual virtue where one shows the desire to learn as much as they can about how things work, even if it annoys other people. One can also define it as intellectual curiosity. Some folks agree that curiosity killed the cat; however, innovation begins and ends with inquisitiveness. Logistics deals with a constant flow of materials and goods. The work in the industry is dynamic and thus keeps the job interesting.

Repetitive nine to five work does not apply in the logistics field. Being inquisitive will help me inquire and learn about how various departments operate and link with each other. Besides, it will assist in the comprehension of all operations down to the intricate details. Successful individuals in the society that I admire like Elon Musk are inquisitive. I will be able to ask questions, seek understanding and possibly develop new designs to improve logistics processes. Open-mindedness is another excellent virtue essential to my success in the future. It helps loosen the grip of people’s desire to be correct. Logistics is an ever-changing and ever-expanding field, and one needs to approach it with an open mind. Therefore, every employee should be open to constructive criticism in the workplace. Criticism helps develop a more accurate view of the situation at hand where suggestions from colleagues could lead to faster problem solutions. Logistics work involves systematic procedures from the handling of goods to the delivery of shipments to clients. It is necessary to have principles to follow standard modus operandi and to approach work with an open mind at the same time. Humans are not perfect and should listen openly and fairly to opposing views. In the quest to reach the top of the pecking order or starting a new business, I have to master intellectual courage. This virtue enables leaders to take risks that challenge the status quo of their companies. I may become a leader at some point, and intellectual courage will help in making tough decisions.

Employees need constant motivation and making bold moves inspires staff and excites customers. Failure is part of the process, but the will to soldier on is what counts. The logistics industry is fast-paced and requires risky, bold actions by leaders to stay competitive. Logistics firms ensure safe delivery of goods to clients across borders and seas. As a future employee in the sector, I know that the above-mentioned intellectual virtues will help me forge a fruitful career.
