The Power of Networking Skills in Business and Professional Development
Networking skills are an essential aspect of personal and professional growth. My involvement in various communities has helped me develop critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills. In 2016, I had a noticeable moment when leading a renewable energy project, which required attracting a wide range of supports to succeed. By valuing this opportunity, I was able to engage multiple elements, breaking down the project into distinct stages to ensure its success. This experience highlights the importance of effective networking and the benefits it can bring to both personal and professional endeavors. Writing about my networking skills in this essay can explore how developing these skills can lead to success, as well as provide tips and strategies for individuals looking to improve their networking abilities.
To begin with, in order to struggle with the high innovation, I successfully attract Professors of electrical, industrial, and machine engineering from different universities involving in our project as we need the mixed learning to acquire some crucial aspects for producing the new generation of solar power. Through my networking ability, relevant skills of supporting the technicality is also gained by cooperating my team with the professional installer of a big solar cell production in Makassar as well as from the government, Industry and Trade Office of Makassar, to equip our supporting tools.
As a result, we could produce the pilot-scale of dye-sensitized solar cell and published it in the scopus-indexed journal through the international conference. This episode of my life imbued me with the sense of tenacity and creativity, and therefore I noticed that my ability on research should be supported by networking. Thus I involve myself in a sociopreneur start-up of Indonesia, TakTakut. ID, as a member of strategic partnership. I bear in mind when the first event related to heightening the reading habit of juveniles, I proofed my networking skill through attracting literacy communities in Indonesia to make contribution together in this event.
Furthermore, I am also keen on the relationship in International Community, hence I joined Earthpreneur Leaders Community in order to increase the respectability of my quest improving engineering research of Indonesia. Although majority of its member from the Western World, we utilize the Social Media (Zoom) to hold the online conference at least once a month to discuss our strategic program and related issues which can boost our role in each representative area, and this activity remains stable until present. I feel comfortable having this opportunity, in addition to my networking skill with the foreigner during the international conference that I have attended, and I am happy to maintain our relation with greeting each other in social media. My truly aspiration as a prospective Chevening Scholar is to engage the Indonesian Chevening Community to empower youth initiatives in Indonesia.
Particularly, I will focus on opening the skill-mentored room to find out their passion and value their time through being a creative person, not only in scientific field but also in social matters like Engineering Research Club or Indonesian Future Leader in between areas. I also plan to consolidate the knowledge that I have acquired from the Earthprenuers Leaders Community with the network that I will build during the Chevening Events, to conduct mentoring and internship programs for university students in their penultimate year, especially in the remote areas.
