Overview And Evaluation Of My Personal Strengths
According to the Strength Finder's assessment, my five most dominant themes of talent are connectedness, relator, belief, arranger, and learner. The results resonate very well with me and really brought awareness to my strongest abilities and talents.
Connectedness means that there is reason behind everything that happens. As a transformational leader, I can build a team where everyone feels important because each of their efforts makes a difference in the bigger picture and there is a reason why they are there. To ensure this, I must help others see the inevitable connection we have with one another and value our responsibilities as humans, as well as health care providers. Some challenges I envision is putting my awareness and sense of unity into words and my ability to connect with those who are more reserved.
Relators usually have tight inner circles and are trustworthy individuals. I value authenticity and like to work with those I can count on and invest in to grow. As a transformational leader, I have the ability to create an honest and trusting environment with this talent, where close relationships are created because of the level of comfort with each other and myself. Due to my emotional investment, my team will work in collaboration to do better together. I need to help them find their similarities rather than focus on their differences to form bonds.
Belief is important for a leader as it displays stability and predictability to followers. By sticking to certain core values and contributing them to decision making, I become consistent in what I say and do. It will become clear what is expected from team members and what the mission is. This will instill purpose and passion into others and allow me to recognize it as well. I would, however, have to adjust to conflicting beliefs and values to create a tension free environment, while still holding onto mine.
In my opinion, being an arranger is of the most fitting talents for a leader. The ability to multi-task, effectively organize and prioritize, make adjustments, and maximize productivity allows a leader to be very successful. Bringing this strength into my leadership style can foster flexibility and structure in a work environment that experiences constant change. I will be quick to respond accordingly and advise team members to do the same. This will also allow me to assign an appropriate role for each team member to create an efficient team with a successful underlying system. I must remember to communicate the reasons for any configurations and allow input from team members to maintain positive attitudes and outcomes.
Being a learner opens doors to endless knowledge and possibilities. Being open to learn is essential for leaders, as we learn new skills and explore innovative concepts to improve our organizations. Leadership does not end at work practices, nor does learning. A few ways I would approach a continuous learning experience is by reading, listening to podcasts, participating in events, attending workshops and encouraging my team to do so as well.
