A Brief History:
Sony began its golden era during the wake of World War II. In 1946, Masaru Ibuka, a Japanese electronics industrialist and co-founder of Sony, started an electronics shop in a department store building at Tokyo. The company started off with a small capital and eight employees. In May 1946, Ibuka was joined by Akio Morita, a Japanese businessman, to establish a company called Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo, Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Corporation. The company built Japan’s first-ever tape recorder, called the Type-G. In 1958, they renamed their company to “Sony”. The name “Sony” is derived from the Latin word “Sonus” implying to the root of sonic and sound.
Sony Corporation is the electronics business unit involved in strategic business planning of the group, research and development (R&D), planning, designing, and marketing for electronics products. Its subsidiaries such as Sony Global Manufacturing & Operations Corporation (SGMO), Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation, Sony Storage Media and Devices Corporation, Sony Energy Devices Corporation, and its subsidiaries at India, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Ireland, and United States are responsible for manufacturing and product engineering.
In 1968, Sony introduced the Trinitron brand name for its range of cathode ray tube televisions and computer monitors, which were discontinued in 2005. The closure of Trinitron marked the end of Sony’s analog television sets and monitors. Somewhere till the summer of 2015, Sony used the LCD WEGA name for its LCD TVs. The company then introduced the BRAVIA, an in-house brand owned by Sony involved in producing high-definition LCD televisions, projection TVs and front projectors, home cinemas, and home theater projectors.

Sony Projectors:
Sony group presents its pupils with projectors which are versatile and energy-efficient in nature, carrying long-life lamps and other such smart energy-saving features which drive down operating costs while reducing environmental impact.
Based on their purpose, Sony projectors can be categorized as:
Education projectors: Portable Projectors with easy installation for schools, colleges, and universities featuring low running costs and smart interactivity for connected classrooms.
Business projectors: Projectors with a short throw, desktop, and easy installation modes for boardrooms, meeting areas, and larger venues, featuring lamp or laser for crisp, bright images with easy operation and low running costs.
4K home theater projectors: Projectors ranging in varied sizes for home cinema screen with long-lasting laser light sources for high-contrast ratio performance.
Sony 4K Projector’s technological features:
Sony’s projectors carry features of such high caliber which undoubtedly makes them the best projector for homes in India.
SXRD technology: SXRD (Silicon X-tal Reflective Display) is Sony’s specifically designed LCOS video projection technology for 4K projectors. LCOS or Liquid Crystal on Silicon is like a hybrid of DLP (Digital Light Processing) and LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) technologies. SXRD technology is solely found in Sony front projectors but was previously extensively used in their rear-projection TVs.
TRILUMINOS™ Display Technology: Sony 4K projector’s optical engine and SXRD panels is incorporated with Sony’s TRILUMINOS Display technology to produce a much broader color range, reproducing more tones and textures than a standard projector system. Hence, these projectors are capable of fantastically rendering colors that are more saturated, vivid, and accurate. The result is greater purity, depth and realism.
Motionflow Technology: Sony’s Motionflow technology provides a smoother, more natural picture by refreshing each frame at a higher rate than normal. It brings the thrill of watching fast-paced, cinematic action to the home.
4K Native Resolution: Sony’s home theater projector offers more than four times the resolution of Full HD. The 4K projector’s SXRD™ panels deliver a native 4K picture, with no electronic enhancement of pixels.
Floating focus system: By moving the floating lens group and focusing lens group simultaneously, the floating focus system corrects any curved field occurring at the time of focal adjustment of images. Thanks to this system, high precision, and high picture quality are realized in every corner of the image.
Extra low dispersion glass: By adopting extra-low dispersion glass – which provides an optimized refractive index for green, red, and blue light – clear and crisp images can be achieved.
Sony 4K home theater projector series:
VPL-VW series: These 4K projector series include SXRD home theater projectors with laser light sources to bring exceptionally bright and contrast images with clear colors.
VPL-VZ series: VPL-VZ series constitutes the ultra-short-throw 4K HDR home theater projector. Designed for style and built for flexibility, these put no restrictions on the design or layout of the house and enable to have a large screen display on any desired terms.
VPL-HW series: VPL-HW is known for their full HD SXRD home theater projectors. With Motionflow technology, 1800 lumens brightness and dynamic contrast range, improve its rendition of high-contrast scenes. These features make the VPL-HW series a great fit for mid-range home theater.
