The Analysis Of Reducing Of Divorce Rate

Divorce; is it really an alarming threat? Does it really have a negative impact on societies? Can it leave traces of depression and personality issues on children? Divorce is perceived differently across cultures and among different individuals’ cases. Some people see divorce as a permanent solution to resolve family disputes that could be harmful to kids on the short term and societies on the long term. While; opposers to the divorce debate believe that if the family bond is broken; family members and societies can be negatively impacted on. According to Periherman, 2012, divorce rates have increased dramatically in recent years which increased the interest in finding out whether it has a real impact on society or not. Accordingly, this research is going to investigate the issue from global, national and local contexts by gathering primary as well as secondary sources. Books and journals will be used as the main browsers of the topic. According to The Economist, Belarus occupies the fourth highest place in the world for divorce, behind South Korea, Russia and Belarus (Periherman, 2012). My national perspective will be about Egypt as it’s my country of origin and the cases appearing in front of me are too much so, I decided to talk about divorce and its impacts on societies in my national perspective (Egypt). From my point of view I guess that divorce a really bad thing.

Global Perspective

Belarus

Belarusians formed over 60,000 new marriages last year, however, not all of them turned out to be successful as over 30,000 marriages ended in divorce, most divorces were registered in the Vitebsk region (BelarusFeed, 2019). Ever thought why Belarus is one of the most countries that holds high divorce rates? One of the reasons that experts have mentioned is alcohol abuse, spouse of an alcoholic usually ends up feeling helpless, hopeless and lonely; these are prime causes of depression and major driver for divorce. Those who get divorced from alcoholic spouses claim that the absence of the spouse could be better for the kids because they see kids as absorbents to what parents usually do. moreover, family and domestic conflicts; that is, some couples are from different social classes, received different education and have different backgrounds. Divorced couples for the previous reasons claim that it can be hard to cope with a spouse who has a different lifestyle than theirs. Also, cheating is perceived as a primary factor; many spouses do not tolerate being created on and prefer to break the family bond for the sake of self-respect which is believe cannot be felt with a cheater. A young man, who refused to give his name, said monetary constraints can lead many couples to avoid having children, which he believes can result in more divorces. 'He said: I think divorce is an economic problem,' he said. 'It also explains the low birth rate. Many families have no children, which does not help to keep them together.' 'People live together with parents and it also affects their lives. Every family has its own reasons.' Another old woman thought that divorce rate reflects material difficulties. Husbands salary and wages are not enough and wives are not satisfied. Women also have no contingency to get a good job. One of the issues is that some of the families live with parents which would lead to divorce. To sum up, there are many drivers to divorce; these drivers, if eliminated, less divorce cases may most probably occur in Belarus or other nations. For instance, cheating is mentioned earlier as found to be main cause of divorce, accordingly, it is the governmental role to enforce laws making cheating illegal; this is likely to reduce its occurrence and so, less divorce. Also, marriage councils should also be in charge of giving precise to couples prior marriage; regarding weather they suit each other or not. This could be done after studying their socioeconomic statuses, education and so on.

South Korea

The divorce rate in South Korea was unstable in the past years; with a value of 2.1 divorces per 1,000 inhabitants (So, 2019). While the marriage rate in the country is decreasing every year, the divorce rate does not show any signs of decrease. This reflects a change in the country’s social norms; as the stigma attached to leaving a marriage becomes less significant, more people are deciding to get a divorce if they are unhappy in their marriage. According to (AP News , 2019) and (Lin, 2019)  South Korean couple Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo the two famous celebrities were seeking a divorce with less than two years. Song Joong-ki was taking legal steps towards divorce said his law which was representing him, the famous actor refused to say the reason why they were leading to divorce. They both ended there divorce smoothly rather than to blame each other. Song Hye-kyo’s management agency, the United Artists Agency, said “a personality difference” is the reason for the divorce. Reasons behind divorce in South Korea have varied significantly each decade since 1950s, changing from spouses that have gone missing to basic unhappiness. Since 1956 up to 2015; almost 1 million, 500 cases have been sent to counselors before the final divorce decision. Apparently, there were some common reasons behind separation of spouses such as socio-economic differences. Therefore, one main cause of divorce is probably economic downturn as families living in countries that have passed some economic crisis such as the Vietnam War and the Asian Financial Crisis that took place in 1997 appeared to have suffered more divorce than others; due to fall in income and lifestyle that some spouses may not have been able to tolerate; especially those who were raised in wealthy families.

Russia

In 2016, the ratio (in Russian) of divorces to new marriages that year was 1 to 1.6, meaning that Russians divorce more often than they marry. In recent decades over 60 percent of marriages in Russia ended in official separation (SHEVCHENKO, 2018). While some blame the difficult life conditions experts said that it has a little to do with it. Russia is a country where every second marriage ends in a divorce, making it international leader in this country. Divorce in Russia happens due to irresponsibility and carelessness of youngsters before the start to get married. They continue being childish and they know nothing about what’s coming to them when they get married they just can’t imagine that they a have a huge amount of responsibility. Couples get divorced in a no dramatic way they just realize that it was a bad choice and a mistake from the beginning, then they leave each other easily. The Russian justice ministry reports that the number of marriages and the number of divorces in Russia have fallen sharply in recent years, with experts providing a wide variety of explanations. The Russian case supports that of South Korea as in both countries the common divorce drivers are economic instabilities (socio-economic issues) and international (Goble, 2019). The main reason for divorce in Russia is the fact that people marry to early so they’re married while they’re still in a development stage which would lead to divorce as the couple are still not that responsible to complete their lives in a new way. National Perspective-Egypt

National perspective

Egypt

Egypt owns a high divorce rate which has some bad impacts on the society. As a result of the tremendous increase of divorce cases in Egypt, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and statistics (CAPMAS) has urged the government, religious entities and some NGOs to exert the maximum possible effort to reduce the rate of Egypt (Reda, 2019). According to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi about 200,000 marriages get a divorce every year; researches said that about 40 percent end within the first five years of marriages. A lot of marriages end because of wholly reasons that make wives and husbands dissatisfied and it leads to losing interest between both off them. One of the most important reasons is financial problems, which would make couples lead to a divorce. Added to that, wives often have no choice but to live under their parent’s roof, this often results continuous disagreement with her man

Local Perspective

I’ve asked a friend of mine David, about his own perspective about divorce. He started by saying ‘’divorce is a really bad thing especially how it affects the society and the surrounding’’. David told me about his mum and dad, it was a really bad thing to hear that they got divorced. The two main reasons were the lack of understanding between them and the financial problems. David was affected in a bad way because of what happened so he was leaving his home daily and alcohol addiction started getting present. Other than that he started failing academically. Many cases like this would affect children like David, I guess it would be a good thing to work on decreasing divorce rate, so parents should solve their problems in a better way.

Personal Perspective

At the beginning of the research I thought that divorce should be illegal in all countries for some reasons, after researches were done he wasn’t affected by the reasons which said that it’s legal and happens in many countries with high rates, divorce is something that should be illegal in all countries, although in the research as it harms families and has its bad impacts on the society. Children being ignored, having a hazed future because of their parents, children won’t be having their opportunity to live with both their dad and mum, they have to choose one to live with even if they’re too young. Can you just imagine a kid choosing between his mum and dad? It’s awful that couples end their love story and relationship because of some misunderstandings. Divorced parents would also affect the whole family in a way, both parents of the man and the woman would have some conflicts which would too law and fights would appear as well because of that. Some countries held some killers as a reason of divorced parents. The researcher wasn’t affected by the research and he still think’s that divorce should be made illegal; this is because almost all of the sources that were found were generally discussing the causes of divorce and taking a certain side towards the divorce issue; so these resources have unfairly discussed the issue. Therefore, more time and more sources may be needed to offer a more convincing debate to change his mind.

Problems and courses of action

Many countries own high divorce rates as shown in the research. Actually I think we need to take a step forward to decrease divorce rates as it causes many conflicts in families and children are affected as well. One important way to decrease number of divorced couples is to work on yourself try to get yourself together staying sad and desperate won’t solve anything but it would make it even worse, try to do some activities it will help to forget the negative thoughts. Secondly, try not to sulk and feeling sorry for yourself try to change your behavior, tell yourself I’m good. Act this way and you’ll soon believe it this would affect your partner as well and it would solve the conflict between you both. Try to hold fast, avoid getting into your own head with what you think they may be feeling. Stay positive, and remember, they are probably bothered of another thing. You’d be feeling the same way sometimes. Moreover, make changes clear; you should identify issues between you both then try to solve it.
