Fit and Fabulous: The Importance of Physical Fitness in Daily Life

My family has always been big fan about the sports. My dad played basketball during his school career and my mom played volleyball during her high school career. In importance of physical fitness essay I will share personal statement why playing sport is benefitial. My parents have always pushed me to play sports. I wasn’t interested in sports until I joined Southwestern’s soccer team during my high school career and I miss playing for them. I started playing soccer when I was 15 and it has been my passion since then. I have made many friends from playing soccer during the school career. Whenever I was at a soccer practice it felt like a small vacation time. That went away in couple of hours. Our relation between the coach and the player was very friendly. We were all family. Every child should play at least one sport during their school career because it will lead to improved health, better teamwork skills and increased self-esteem and confidence.

To start benefits of physical activity essay, one of the most common benefit of playing sport is improved health. Taking part regularly in sports prevents various diseases and develops healthy bones, good heard and improved lung and aerobic functions. Some sports are highly competitive and needs lot of strength and running. It is great for the body fitness and cardiovascular health which leads to improved physical health. Football requires lot of running. Bulk of work is done by the leg. Football players also use many other muscles such as arm muscle. Football requires throwing and catching ball. Soccer and football involve running from one side of the field to other side of field in chase for the ball, which helps with aerobic exercise and can lead to increase in aerobic capacity. In India, my hobby was swimming, which requires a good capacity for the aerobic system. Swimming requires lot of control in breath because you have to go inside a water, and you have to hold your breath. It helped me with the aerobic capacity. Swimming requires constant moving of hand and leg which leads better physical skills and healthy life. Playing sport helps in burning fat, which leads to building more muscle which is good for the health. Resistance exercises challenges muscular system, resulting in bigger stronger muscles. Riding a bicycle regularly is an excellent way to keep mind and body happy. Cycling can helps reduce stress and ease anxiety which can lead to improved mental health. Playing sports helps increase concentration skills. Sport such as soccer requires quick decision like when to pass ball to other team member without getting any obstacles from opponents’ team. Soccer involves the use of both mind and body at the same time, which can help in strengthening a player’s mind and body and boost player’s coordination strength. The benefits of playing sports aren’t just physical, it also includes development of teamwork skills.

Within physical fitness essay, another benefit of playing sports in school involves better teamwork skills. Some sports such as soccer, football, and basketball require a lot of teamwork skills, whether it’s advancing the ball to the team member or defending the ball from the other player. In badminton you have to trust the other team player in order to be successful. Player can’t go from his/her spot to another team player spot thinking the player won’t be able to hit. In soccer, player can’t take ball from the opponent’s attacker all the way to their goal post and score a goal, the player has to pass the ball to other team member in order to score a goal. Teamwork skills are important in our life to be successful. Players have to know each other strengths or weakness to be successful. Understanding team members strength and weakness helps player with the idea on how to score a goal or pass a ball, or will the help be able to do it, or does he need any help. In my soccer practices, our coach taught us to understand and trust teammates. Teamwork skills are not only useful at the game, they are also important in professional life. In article “How Sports can Teach Workplace Leadership Skills,” O.C. Tanner, professor of philosophy, has stated that “Whether you are a professional athlete or not, sports participation can highlight leadership qualities that are both effective on and off the field.” Leadership plays an important role in being successful manager. Because of the opportunity to try, win or lose together, students involved in sports are naturally inclined to adopt a team mind set in the workplace and in the social situation. In article “Seven Reason High School Athletics are Important,” Shawn Brown has stated that, “Sports teach students life skills.” Manager have to work together with the staff, and it requires good teamwork skills. In her research, “Giving Meaning to Sport Involvement in Managerial Work,” Annelies Knoppers, head coach of the volleyball team, has stated that, “Most of these managers were very positive about their sport experiences and felt that sport was a place where they had learned skills that are crucial to their managerial work”. Teamwork skills is one of the important things that is taught in high school.

Another benefit that is needed to be mention in benefits of physical fitness essay, is increased self confidence and self-esteem. Confidence is the key requirement that is needed to be successful in the life. Playing sport helps create positive self-confidence and esteem. Children’s learn to be confident in the field In article, “Hardiness and Self-Esteem Among Female Wrestlers: A Correlational Study,” written by Aditi Kadyan and Sonia Malik, they wrote, “Research had shown that the participation in sports increases the hardiness levels and self-esteem of the individuals, which in turn is helpful in overall development of the individual”. Before I started playing soccer, I was shy and not confident, but as I started playing soccer, I got more confident. When player scores a goal and a crowd cheers them up, they work harder to score more goals and be successful. I remembered the time when I scored my first goal, was one of the happiest moments. My team members and the audience cheering for me, and I felt proud of myself, and all I wanted to do was score more goals. Cheering from the audience and team players increased my confidence and boosted self-esteem. Children seeing their hard work paying off, they are more likely to work harder and thus resulting in improved self-esteem. Playing in front of crowd requires lot of confidence. When I started playing soccer I was afraid to play in front of the big crowd, thinking what will people say about me if I will make a mistake during the game but as I got used to it I could play freely without worrying about what audience will say. Playing sport helped me to gain confidence and increased my self-esteem. Verbal and Non-Verbal reaction, and praise from the audience helps to influence a player’s level of independence and sense of achievement. When players are given positive feedback and support, they develop high self-esteem.

In conclusion to essay about physical fitness, sports has helped me make some good lifetime memories and has made me successful. Whenever I get a chance, I try to remember the good memories that we had during our soccer practice. I have dedicated so much time to the soccer that it has become a part of me. I wish I could play keep playing soccer in my future life. Every child should play at least one sport during their school career because it will lead to improved health, better teamwork skills and increased self-esteem and confidence. All these skills lead to good and successful life. Soccer helped me make new friends.
