The Life And Rap Career Of Eminem

Marshall Bruce Mathers III was born on October 17 1972, in Saint Joseph, Missouri. His dad left him around the age of one. Marshall states this in his song Cleanin’ Out My Closet. Debbie Mathers was left to raise Marshall and his 3 siblings. Marshall’s mother had Munchausen syndrome. That is where Debbie would fake her children being sick to gain sympathy and money from other neighbors. He was verbally, physically and mentally abused by his mother. This then led to a bad relationship between them. Marshall did develop a strong bondage between his uncle Ronnie. His uncle was the person who would lead him to become what he would become. Ronnie introduced Marshall to hip-hop and rap music. Marshall then had to move with his mom to Detroit Michigan to help with his aunt was having trouble with her boyfriend. That is where Marshall spent the rest of his childhood days. He attended Lincoln High School in Michigan. Marshall failed the 9th grade 3 times. He then ended up dropping out of high school. The one subject that Marshall was good at was English.

He started rapping around the age of 14. His first album that he ever released was named Infint. After Infint didn’t do good Em almost commited suicide. The album was dropped in 1996. Em does admit that he almost died due to an overdose on a drug to help stop an addiction to heroin. Ever since then Marshall hasn’t taken drugs unless prescribed by his doctor. He has also been sober for about 10 years. There was a period of time after that incident that Marshall became a “workaholic”. He would run everyday before and after he got back from the studio. In all he ran around 17 miles a day. He did this for about 1 year. Believe it or not, Em is actually an actor! He started in the movie 8 mile as the main character Jimmy a.k.a B-Rabbit. But other than that Marshall has focused most of his life on his rap career. After his first album (Infinit), he started rising higher and higher in the rap industry. He acquired the nickname “Slim Shady” from his song My Name Is.

He has set many records for his songs. One of the most memorable records he set was for his song Rap God. He murdered 1,560 words in a mere time of 6 min and 4 sec. In a part of Rap God he rapped 4.28 words per second! That is surprisingly not the fastest rap ever. At one point Eminem stopped making rap songs and just layed low. Slim’s best selling song was Lose Yourself which was featured in the movie 8 Mile. Eminem has released about 289 songs in his whole rap career. Some of his lyrics have been considered controversial because of his lyrics he sings. The media is blaming Em for his songs and how he needs to stop making them. Marshall doesn’t care at all about what they say. In fact he states this is some of his songs. His newest album that he has released is called Kamikaze. He has had beef with many rappers, but his most recent was with MGK (Machine Gun Kelly). MGK said in 2012 an inappropriate comment about Slim’s daughter Haily. Then Em dropped Kamikaze which had 2 songs in it that was a diss to MGK. One song was a response to MGK song Rap Devil. Eminem is not afraid to call out rappers when he thinks necessary. Some of his beef has gone viral (like the beef he had with MGK). For example, he called out Lil’Yachty on being a mumble rapper and a ghostwriter. A mumble rapper is someone who raps things that make no sense. A ghostwriter is someone who hires someone to write their music. In Marshall’s eyes that is one of the worst things that anyone could possibly do in the rap industry. He even states in Fall “All I know is I wrote every single word of everything I ever murdered, time to separate the sheep from goats, and I got no faith in your writers I don’t believe in ghosts”. When Marshall released Revival he got a lot of feedback on how the new Eminem is trash. But Eminem shook all of that off and released Kamikaze. After that all the Eminem fans knew he was back. Kamikaze was one of Eminem best albums, which is saying something since he was gone for about five years. Some of the songs in Kamikaze had the best selling rate for Eminem.

Marshall has an interesting way to honor his fans. Most singers will blow a kiss or invite fans onto the stage, Slim, on the other hand will flip his fans off. His fans respect that though. They know that he is respecting them when he does that. They all know that Em has been through some really bad situations and he deserves everything he is getting. One of Eminem’s quotes is, “Before you judge someone, walk a mile in his shoes.” He deserves all the money, fame, and fans. He is really the underdog of life. He went through a bunch of bad things that have led him to become the best rapper alive. He has been discriminated and ignored when he needed love the most. He never grew up with a proper family, he never knew what it was like to get kissed goodnight, or have a bedtime story read to him before he falls asleep. His adulthood makes up for everything that has happened in his childhood. Eminem has never had a healthy relationship with anyone in his life besides his uncle Ronnie. He will never go down the road of drugs and alcohol again. He knows if he does he won’t be able to come back and do what he loves the most: rap. He has learned his lesson. He knows how not to raise a daughter. His parents had taught him some very valuable lessons. What not to do in a kid’s life.

In conclusion I think that Eminem is the best rapper to ever live and who will ever live.
